I can't find back the old "movies" thread (am I blind??), so I just open a new one:

Yesterday I was watching "Thank you for smoking" and I saw a BS9000 in Nick Naylors appartment, along with some ugly non B&O AV equipment.

In the 3D thread I suggested starting a thread about what's your favourite film. So I'm following it through - what is your favourite film and is it on DVD/VHS and in SD/HD/3D?

Mine is probably Copycat because I love Sigorney Weavers flat with two BS Centurys and is on VHS/DVD WS, next would be all of Amodovar Pedrova's films in SD/VHS/DVD 4:3 and 16:9

Being a life long Herge/Tintin fan I was really looking forward to this film, although a bit apprehensive at the same time. In short, it delivered - In fact I LOVED it!

French stuff from the 1950's and american musicals - Vinyl

Petula Clake / Ray Conniffe - Vinyl from 1960's

Demis Rousios/ Nane Mouskouri / Vicky Leandros / Abba - Vinyl 70's

U2 / Human League and Abba - CD 80's

Ministry of Sound 90's

Dance and MGMT 00;s MP3

Plus Jass and Classical - any format!

Do we think they sound better on equipment from their era? - I do

Really cool and rare soundtracks ( and some commentary on their movies )

Apologies if that thread already exists first of all as I am very new here. I have been buying soundtracks for 25 years or so now as I really like cinema and movies . without too much thought will list some of the rare , out of the ordinary soundtracks that well sound superb on the Beosound 9000 I recently bought

(1) Manhunter soundtrack - movie from M Mann, the original Hanniball Lecteur movie. Very good 80s sound for those who like that era

(2) Colonel Chabert - the movie with G Departieu - the book by H Balzac , one of my best movies, the opening scene of the Napoleonic era after the battle scene with all the dead bodies, horses, cannons etc is a monumental scene and the soudtrack with Beethoven , Bach and other is a very good selection. Also a great movie to watch and hard to find

(3) Aguirre - wrath of God - all music by Popol Vuh - ethnic sounds, considered one of the best electronic , alternative music albums of the 70s

(4) 2001 : A space odyssey . Amazing sound quality . Classic pieces

(5) The last Temptation of Christ. The movie by M Scortzese he considers it his best and so do I . Ethnic music by Peter Gabriel mixed with electronic, one of the best soundtracks i have ever heard and apparently he wrote the music at Gesthemanee that he visited to get inspired to write music abou the life of Christ

(6) Vanilla Sky - that very strang movie with Tom Cruise has an interesting mix from Bob Dylan to REM and others. Rare diversities in one album

(7) The thin Red line. Great soundtrack and sound quality , some of the tracks are very complex music pieces

(8) Star Wars . cant beat the original theme on high volume on a pair of 8000s I reckon . very good recording sound quality

(9) Engineering Symphony - Porsche Engine Sounds. Only for pistonheads

(10) Halo 3 Soundtrack - Its by far one of the best computer games soundtracks. Amazing sounds and by far a great creation. Very underrrated in my opinion and its a shame

Prince: 1999 on CD

Not too B&O related, but since this is probably the most sensible forum I use...

I have the "1999" album by Prince on CD. I bought it ages ago so it is probably one of the earliest pressings (Wikipedia notes that those had the title "D.M.S.R" omitted to make it fit on one disc, just like mine).

I've always wondered why "Little Red Corvette" sounds horribly distorted during the loudest passages. All I can think of that this song has been mastered crudely wrong causing it to clip - anyone noted anything wrong with it either on CD or some other release format?

Another movie B&O would have made...........

Does anyone else here get/like the Palladia channel? I have just recently caught on with it and I cant live without it it! Concerts, live performances... everything good. Like right now I'm watching the Foo Fighters play at Copenhagen! Not all on here may be able to appreciate this channel as it is owned by MTV so it is definitely aimed at the younger crowd, but I hope you can all learn to enjoy it as well.

After a long car journey, and an even longer working week away from home, my tatty uncomfortable sofa welcomed me with its obtrusive springs and worn leather arms. The wind & rain howled through the living room window, I realised at this point Britain's summer had ended after a fortnight. I still felt wafts of rage, as i recalled the German & Swedish Speeding Conspiracy Society travelling on the M11 behind, next to and trying to shunt my inferior & economical French car pushing me further toward the hard shoulder, the inner lane looked inviting but I was actually travelling at a compatible speed. My wife was at work untill late, and so I sank deeper into a feeling of "Is this all life has to offer me". Then glancing down I noticed the elegent form of my ageing Beolink 1000. It invited itself into my hand, and I depressed the keys randomly, uncertain as what would be on the radio section of my BC 8500 on a Friday evening.

What angelic sounds then infused my room and ears, an 'unknown band' was playing on number two. I had been given a ride on an emotional roller coaster. My day, my week where now a distant memory, the song ended and the presenter muttered the word 'Rook', and 'Shearwater'. I spent the next morning in HMV, and found to my delight this was Shearwaters latest album 'Rook', with a catalogue of previous albums, including The Dissolving room, Thieves, Palo Santo, Everybody makes mistakes and Winged Life all available on CD to play on my BC 8500, what joy I have found, I will never feel that low again. I emplore you all have a listen you wont be dissapointed. Matt

I am desperately looking for a decent recording (CD or MP3) of the MTV Unplugged concert of "Hootie and the Blowfish" dated 19 April 1996 as a present for my girlfriend. If anyone knows where to find one (legal, of course...), please let me know. Thank you so much.
