The CD4 circuitry does two things: it decodes the rear channels and send these signals to the two pins unused in the 5 pin DIN plug. This is not a problem but is best kept switched off as otherwise you cut off the frequencies above 15 kHz on the front channels.

However the bigger issue is that it also amplifies and equalises the output to line level. Therefore you need to use the Aux or Tape2 input.

Re: Beocenter 9000 connectivity

In answer to your first question I don't see any problem in connecting your Beogram 4002. When I had a Beocenter 9000 I also had a Beogram 4002 connected to it for a while. Only difference been I did not have the decoder in mine. As for the pre out it is two Phono (RCA) connections that you could connect to your second Amp. It is even controlled by the volume of the Beocenter.

Craig

Re: Beocenter 9000 connectivity

Anyone?

I'm not too au-fait with the vintage kit and it's compatability, but someone must know!

Beocenter 9000 connectivity

I am considering buying a Beocenter 9000, and I have two questions. First, will my Beogram 4002 (with built-in quad decoder) plug into it? I realize it won't have remote capability, but will the 4-channel circuitry interfere? Would I simply leave it set on 2-channel?

Second, I see the Beocenter 9000 has an RCA "PRE AMP OUT" on the back. Would I be able to plug this into my NAD preamp as an AUX, and play the CD/tape/phone through the Beocenter? Or am I way off base here......
