Hi again Minh....for power on/off...

Buy one of the strips below and plug your AV into it....when you use your remote to key on your AV7000....it'll kick on your power amp that you have runing the REAR speakers off the RCA's....then 1 button turns on your whole system....

Hi Minh...when you connect your AV7000 thru the converter (data link to ML) to the BS 9000..... you AV 7000 becomes the master....all speakers are connected to the AV...not to the BS 9000

On the back of the AV there are Powerlink outs for front left and right AND rear left and right....just take the powerlinks on the one of the rear powerlinks...(powerlinks have both R and L in each)....plug in a simple RCA converter...and run to your amp...then on to your passive rear speakers..

The audio at the REAR powerlink will have the delay when you set your AV to the prologic mode....so it takes care of your problem....

Hmmmm ... now there's a thought. I'll have to check with my B&O Service Rep to see if I can feed the signal through the BS9000 to use its Headphone jack. Or I can just try it...

Your solution should work too - but if I'm tapping the signal before (or as) it gets to the AV7000 - I can go ultra lo-tech and just use a RCA switch/splitter. Meaning the signal from the DVD player gets split into both the AV7000 and the headphone unit. But then I'm basically bypassing the AV7000.

I am using a 5500 system but I can see a way to do this! The A.Aux socket which goes to the BS9000 is at line level and you can tap into that for the headphone amplifier. I think it will be pin 3 and 5 for left and right and 2 for ground. You should be able to make up a cable with 7 pin din sockets at either end and a tap with RCA plugs in the middle to feed the headphone amplifier. The wiring diagrams you need will be on Beotech.co.uk.

You have made me go and look at my AV9000 and there is no headphone socket on that either! It is on the audio bit. Doesn't the AV7000 feed the source through to the BS9000 anyway via the Audio aux socket?

Well I use a headphone amplifier with my system - a Musical Fidelity X-Can V3. You can attach it to a line out and then mute your main system as the X-Can has a separate volume control.

That's a thought - but then the B&O will remain the central controller and the passive speakers are essentially made active through an intermediary amp.

The impression I get is that these surround-sound-systems need to be plugged directly into the DVD player b/c they have their own logic to direct the sound and control their many 10+ co-located speakers.

So ... back to the headphone issue - does anyone have any thoughts?

Hi Minh...

You don't have to move completly away from BnO...

I'm considering on using some passive RL 140's for my rear channels...if so...i'll take the rear powerlink out of the AV 7000 and plug in a RCA converter ....then into an amp and out with speaker wires in the walls...

so you can basically keep everything but possibly the amp running the passive speakers..

just a thought..

I've had this setup for over 5 years and it works great. I have no rear speakers because I hate the thought of running wires over the carpeting. My next project will be using something like the Yamaha or Polk surround-sound-in-one-speaker - but that probably means moving away from B&O.

Now - I take it you don't have a need for using headphones with the AV7000 ??

I've not installed the AV7000, we're just completing the wiring now.....do you have rear speakers too??

I could plug headphones into the BS9000 to listen to CD audio.

But I'm interested in listening to DVD or AUX audio through headphones.

Is there any support for audio-out to headphones? I don't see a headphone jack anywhere on the unit.

My setup:

I have a AV7000 hooked into the Beosound9000 (through the adaptor); the AV7000 drives a set Beolab8000 speakers and a non-B&O subwoofer. The AV7000 also takes in non-B&O audio (DVD player and MP3-audio-in via AUX input).
