Do the fix (and it is a simple fix - replace C2103 on the servo board of the BC9500 - it may be the same on the 9000), and it's good for another 7-10 years. In about another 5 years anyway, you'll need to replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors in the 9000 as well.

Either make sure you're comfortable with this kind of work, or find a good electronician who will do the exact work you specify, and appreciates the difference between "a quick-fix repair at maximum profit", and "a full-restoration" so you don't have to visit him again for 10 years.

Beomaster 4500 or BeoCenter 9000?

I posted this in the other section but so far haven't received any advice. Maybe my fellow Americans can help? :)

Here's the predicament; I currently have a Beomaster 4500 in very good condition. Not to mention I absolutely love the way it sounds. Here's the thing, I have an opportunity to get a Beocenter 9000 which is also supposedly in pretty good condition. "Pretty good" meaning it has a very small nick and the CD door needs a little push to close. It's also priced right, IMO.

If I replaced the 4500 with the 9000 would I be "trading down"? I know the 9000 has loads more functions but what about the sound and overall quality? Also, what about this CD door issue? Is that a money pit or a small fix? I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks to rectify it. Someone with some experience please chime in.
