But we do keep hearing for a long time that it will use the BS3. Also note the price difference between Europe and US. If you add stand and HDD which I think the BV9 has you get a pricing structure between products that is somewhat realistic giving the BV9 is 10"larger. The BV7 in Europe is priced much lower, more like mid class. Keep in mind overthere they qoute with taxes which can be up to 20%.

Selling the BV7 in the US without full BS3 would be a bad deal, selling it with BS3 in Europe would be too good and throw their pricing structure off.

Again I am just assuming based on what I read and what I heard. I am following this topic for a very long time, it popped up actually 2 or 3 years ago where they (B&O) tried to explain why they don't have LCD TVs in the US.

Lastly, TV standards are very different between countries. The BS3 is mostly designed at controlling an outside box, which is very common for the US while in Europe customers are all after fully integrated tuners.

Will see what happens. Personally I would hope for some sort of BS3 mini system for the US because that would give us more hope that they introduce smaller TVs. Which is not on the horizon I believe.

Re: What is the latest on BV7?

Are you sure about two different versions for USA and Europe? However, have you ever seen the size of the BS3 and the BV7-40? You can't simply stick a BS3 on the back of a BV7 - it will be too large and cumbersome (it's already very heavy). What's going to happen is that the BS3 will be integrated in to the chassis. The same TV (with the new chassis) will appear worldwide, but will be launched in the US first.

The most important bit of this entire discussion is when it will be released. In this discussion, someone said 24th of April, but that's been and gone..

Re: What is the latest on BV7?

http://www.hedmag.com/The-Latest-The-Best/BANG-OLUFSEN-LCD-TV.asp

Confirms that US BV7 is built on BS3.

http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_6/mansion_tour/living_areas-08.shtml

I do not watch Mr Trumps show but it seems they used the BV7 in there.

Re: What is the latest on BV7?

>>B&O aren't going to produce two different versions of the same TV<<

They did that before though with the Avant. There are significant differences between standards for Europe and US. The economy of scale for the US might be achieved by using the BS3. Everything that we head sofar says that the US BV7 will have the full BS3 functionality while everything we heard about the European one says there is a mini version of it.

I guess we will see but I wouldnt be surprised if US has BS3 to get economies of scale with BV9 and BV4 and Europe works based on a mini BS3 / new chassis not to cause the overlapping product line / pricing issues that the US will have.

If it would be easy to use the same global chassis we in the US would certainly see more TVs like the BC6 which we will probably not.

Cheers

JK

Re: What is the latest on BV7?

"B&O aren't going to produce two different versions of the same TV.
