Hold it.
I just realized that it was Tim who had a similar Beocord on the bench a couple of years ago;

Maybe this is what happened to your Beocord.
I had a couple of similar cases that were somewhat closer to your symptoms but with the same cause.

It was for the Beocord 5000 and it was in my own notes so sorry, I don't have any
immediate clues.
It will have to be diagnosed further, I'm afraid.

Sounds like the overcurrent protection tripping.
There is a service note for this if I remember correctly. I will check.

Hi,
I have a Beocord 6500 which is now encountering some problems as follows:

When I use a remote controller to play it at the side 1, the indicator light turns on (autorever), then flickers and finally turns itself off (the tape stops running). I try to fix with >> and <<, there is nothing happening except for some noise inside. I have replaced with a new bell, it remains the same.
When I do the same with the side 2, the tape works smoothly as normal but >> and << do not.

Sometimes, when I play, the tape works well at both sides, but other functions do not work.

Wish to get your advice on these problem asap.
