The battery that needs to be changed is a CR2450, about $6US.

My 5000 remote did not work for the reset so a 1000 is needed.

I do not have a beolink 1000, not sure what type I have, it looks more like a Beo4 but on the back it has 11 buttons, 'shift, program, control, turn store, clear,v record, a record, rec start, rec stop and return. It was the remote I was given when I purchased it new back in 94'.

When i go to enter the numbers 'no contact' is displayed on the remote. Do I need a beolink 1000 or ? will mine work.

It's a 3V lithium cell (whose type you might find out by searching on the forums, I can't remember it). It is soldered in place - get a new cell with solder lugs, it'll explode on your face if you try to solder on a regular button cell directly.

Take some necessary ESD precautions, or you might be looking for a new CPU module after all...

Finally, the code needs to be reset and you'll find the answer to that on the FAQ section of this site.

Re: BeoCenter 9500 -- displays 'Code' in upper right

the cpu is the silver box you can see to the front right hand side with all the cables going to it,
