I absolutely adore my S45-2s. I haven't heard them in a while though and miss their sound quite badly.

I had mine in a very small room monted on the wall and they were thunderous!! Around BeoWorld, the S45-2 is the first name in vintage B&O, they are simply amazing in every capacity.

What about the sound quality? How would you compare them to other quality designs of any vintage? I find them to be very evenly balanced with surprisingly good bass response for their size. What are others thoughts?

Put a bead of two part epoxy all the way around the driver as shown in this M70 cone midrange (phase link) driver.

I can't speak for outside the U.S., but I've been watching Ebay U.S. almost every day for at least a year. For the Uniphase era of Beovox loudspeakers, every tenth pair or so will have the matching stands. Those pairs which do have the stands sell for more than double what those which don't.

You don't mention stands, so I assume you don't have them. As has been mentioned, appearance will be key in fetching a good price. If they were mint, I think you might be able to get $100 without stands. Sunlight fading of the finish, a water stain on the top (it's amazing how many people think potted plants belong on loudspeakers), scratches on the bottom, snags in the grill/fret fabric - any of these will push the price toward the $50 range.

For comparison purposes, here are some Ebay and Craigslist purchases I have made (none had stands) in the past year or so:

M70s no grills/frets, poor finish: $50

M70s, good finish: $100

S45-2s, very good finish: $90

S40s, very good finish, but needed woofer refoam: $40

Thanks for the response. I just posted them on Craigslist for now, which is local pick-up only, in hopes of avoiding any shipping damage issues.

For S45-2 that is a popular number. Not sure about S45. Finish and condition are biggest determinants.

Please take Martin's comment seriously. The buyer of your speakers could end up with non functional speakers! Even worse still, your buyer could be one of us.

Do you have any idea what their worth is? The only thing I have found are the S45-2, which just sold on Ebay for $100. Mine, however, are S45. Does that make them more or less expensive than the -2's?

Glue the magnets before eventually shipping or you will have trouble !

Thanks for the info. Wow... didn't realize they were that old. Unfortunately, keeping them is not something that would work for me right now. I live in New Jersey - guess I will explore Ebay or Craigslist. :)

Your S45s are the first edition of S45s, build 1976/77, if you sign up as a Silver or Gold member you can sell here on the forum or sell on Ebay if available on your location, if you tell us your location maybe we can help more.

But why not keep these Iconic speakers and get a nice Beomaster 2400 and a Beogram 2400 to complete the set, both available to bargain prices a the moment
