This means that no Beo4 or Beolink 1000 will work. You will need the MCP5000 or 5000 remote for it. A 3rd option is the remote kit that is hard to find. The kit konverts the 5000 IR signals to Beolink 1000/Beo4 etc.

There's of course always a small chance that it might be more involved, and seeing that we are in the NA forum, you might have more trouble finding a competent service to fix it for you.

Anyway it should be cheaper than a new good condition unit (and they will all need a recap sooner or later). In the end it's a matter of convenience and timetable - you could of course get another one, have this unit repaired at your leisure and then sell one or the other on, which shouldn't be a big problem.

Re: Beomaster 6500 showing LOCKED and now...

No! You were supposed to tell me to push a couple of buttons in a strange combination and ..Voila! it would work. :-)

That sounds expensive to repair. It may be easier to replace it with another 6500. Thanks for all the good info., though. I kind of figured it was more than a simple 'fix'.

Re: Beomaster 6500 showing LOCKED and now...

Well it needs real electrical repair right now, I don't think any trickery will restore it.

From the symptoms, it seems the processor doesn't start up properly. The rest of the Beomaster does absolutely nothing without it. There are probably a number of capacitors that need replacement, both in the power supply and in the CPU module. When the caps are going out, it often happens that a unit works fine as long as it remains plugged in, but after a power break it doesn't start any more. The main rectifier can also fail.

Re: Beomaster 6500 showing LOCKED and now...

Well, now, no lights come on no matter what I do with the remote. Is it fried? Or a matter of the proper reset? Unplugging it does not reset it either.

Re: Beomaster 6500 showing LOCKED and now...

Is the standby led lit?
