I have ordered the new BV 7-40 Mk III 1080p in dark grey...

So now i'm about to have two BV Sevens in my home=)

One Bv 7-40 Mk II 720p Silver

And one Bv 7-40 Mk III 1080p Dark Grey

So in one month i can compare the MK II vs MK III =)

This sounds very promising. At the moment in the UK, the blacks on the BeoVision 7 are not that good, it suffers from bad motion blurring/stuttering, it doesn't do a very good job of displaying an SD picture (when compared to say the BeoVision 9, 4, 8 or BeoCenter 6) and also seriously lacks HD connections (as well as the audio decoding options being rather limited).

1. Alex, artifacts do not appear to be an issue with BV7. I am sure the jury will speak loudly when it's (American) football season (no problem with auto racing, but the camera pans). You definitely don't have the problem of slow processing. For pixellation (sp), the only issues I have seen are based on signal. And the blacks are miraculous. This system will be very hard to top.

2. Jean, regarding delay in the US, we are hearing they land in August/September, first come-first serve. Some stores have significant pre-sales. If you are buying and want it to specification, I suggest you line-up.

How does motion look? One of the biggest issues I have with the BeoVision 7 in the UK is motion blurring and stuttering.

Hello RussR, my friend,

We are hooked up to a rooftop antenna and running it to BV9 and BV7. The 7 tuner is fantastic. The display on the side offers the channel number AND description eg "WHRO PBS 15" and it runs, of course, completely off Beo4.

Tysons guys are "cooler" than we are. When the B7 came in we attacked it like a bunch of piranha and had it set up and running in 20 minutes. The next morning I had the new coax in and hooked up to the antenna before the store opened. Only stumble to date is the store is too small to set up a link TV downstairs.

Here in the US we never got any other LCD TV from B&O, so we can't compare to a BV-7 MK II. We will have to wait for you guys in EU to do that.

As for the 'Black' issue; comparing the BV-7 to the BV-9 (in the US) the addition of the seperate contrast screen (As on the Avant and MX TV's) has to get credit for a lot of the difference.

Ray, how do you like the '7's 'Off-Air' tuner? Tyson's is still getting everything set up?

BeoLab, I wish I could answer your question, but I honestly don't know the technology. The glass is black, however, and that suggests your are correct regarding the emphasis on Vision Clear. If it were the native screen technology, the improvements would be across the industry, don't you think? And if it were BeoSystem 3, I would think we would have already heard about it.

We watched for comparison the rest of today, and the great blacks are real.

Okey! I just wounder because I'm going to pick up my new BV 7-40 MK II today. ($15380 inc stand and taxes)

And just wondered if my BV are going to have the same blackness-level as the US BV 7-40 MK III.

At $13,250 MSRP with speaker, your ability to build from that platform requires an investment, but a fair and reasonable one for those with the means and inclination. ray

Can u tell why the BV 7-40 MKIII have so much blackness like a plasma TV? Is it the BS3, the new panel, vision clear or what do you think it depends of ??

We are looking at the same OTA signal on BV7 and BV9, side by side, all settings centered. The combination of screen size, difference in screen resolution, viewing distance, and black screen on BV7 seem to give it an advantage on blacks and contrast when compared to the BV9. Amazingly, the color depth and hue are dead equal on the two pictures. My eyes start to give out at 11' with the BV7, and the BV9 is still comfortable at 15', but we can't blame that on the tv, now can we? The DVD scaling is amazing. Just a couple of thoughts. Ray.

1. Can you compare the picture with a more common plasma or LCD? How much better is it? The blackest black in LCD:s today, or can you mark out some competitors for the BV 7-40 ? Have you testing it with HD material or just SD-TV and DVD?

2. What is the price?
