It is basically compatible with most current audio products but misses some functions, as you see. I've never had one so unfortunately I can't help you any further - I'm afraid it is not possible to execute these operations with it at all

Re: Master control panel 5000 no transmission to Beomaster 5000

tournedos:

Don't despair - you need to use SHIFT+RESET to toggle loudness (and SOUND+STORE thereafter if you want the current setting to stay as a power-on default, it stores current volume etc. as well).

Tuning the radio presets goes as well with a Beolink 1000. You can either

GOTO + < / > to search for a station

or GOTO + key in frequency, including the tenths + wait a couple of secs for the Beomaster to actually tune

STORE + <preset number> + STORE will store the current frequency to a preset. I've never used the AM range on mine but I guess the band is toggled with TURN. Display will show either F or A.

If you really want to have an MCP, any of MCP5500, 6500 or 7000 will work, but if you have an aluminum coloured BM5500, only the MCP5500 will be a good cosmetic match (the later ones are polished instead of brushed).

Thanks Mika, the station tuning instructions worked great although my channel display is not working I could tune with it by using another radio set on the desired station. But i am at a loss on two functions you describe. There is no shift button , or store button on my 1000 audio terminal. I did find my manual for the audio terminal and no where did it refer to a shift or store function or show that button on the terminal display. Also no where does it refer to the MK model only that it was printed in 86.

Re: Master control panel 5000 no transmission to Beomaster 5000

Don't despair - you need to use SHIFT+RESET to toggle loudness (and SOUND+STORE thereafter if you want the current setting to stay as a power-on default, it stores current volume etc. as well).

I agree with Mika, are you sure it is a Beomaster 5000 you have? If it can be controlled with a Beolink 1000 It sounds like you have a Beomaster 5500. If it IS a Beomaster 5500 then a MCP 5000 won't work with it and will show "no contact".

Just to add, you say you have a system 5000 but this doesn't mean the actual Beomaster is a 5000 as the peripheral 5000 components (tape/CD/Beogram etc..) can be connected to a Beomaster 5500 & will still work.

To turn off the loudness function on a Beomaster 5500 you need a MK2 Beolink 1000 with the "reset" button.

Chris.

My bad, it is a 5500! my Beolink 1000 does have a reset button on it ,its a Mk2. But when i push the reset button the loudness display does not go away. But i really want to tune in my radio stations,so i do have to buy the MCP 5500 to do that, right?

Re: Master control panel 5000 no transmission to Beomaster 5000

I agree with Mika, are you sure it is a Beomaster 5000 you have?
so the BM5000 is receiving the IR and behaving itself

seems you need to focus on the MCP

after checking the obvious -- batteries -- you should search the board for "MCP" -- there have been quite a few threads lately about repairing 5000s and their MCPs

Yes the BM5000 is behaving itself and works fine with the 1000 remote. I bought the MCP to set radio stations and turn off the loudness buttom. I have brand new batteries and did a search on the NAB for MCP but found nothing about repair or transmission problems specific to the 5000. again i have no manual , what is the correct button to power up the receiver? I have pressed every button on the remote and nothing happens just no transmission in middle window.

Re: Master control panel 5000 no transmission to Beomaster 5000

so the BM5000 is receiving the IR and behaving itself

Question is there a set up i need to perform before they will link up? I do not have the owners manual to the master control. I have the 1000 remote that came with my 9000 system and it runs the beomaster 5000 fine but of course i cannot turn off the loudness button or select and fine tune radio stations with it, but it does work so the master control 5000 is in question. It just shows no transmission in the middle window
