No problem, please feel free to get in touch via my sponsor link below and I can sort out a pre-amp with a wiring loom to transmit Datalink (including cross-over links, as the BM7000 and RX2 have slightly different Datalink wiring).

Just to confirm that the comments above are correct: Beogram RX does not have a pre-amp built in, neither does Beomaster 7000. It is technically possible to fit an internal pre-amp to either the BM7000 or the RX 2, but I have never yet seen either of these be modified in this way. So, you can normally be fairly sure that you will need an external pre-amp when connecting these devices.

Kind regards,

Steve.

Re: Beomaster 7000

I think Steve at Sounds Heavenly (one of this site's sponsors) can provide you with a datalink to datalink phono pre-amp.

It should be the best solution and will offer datalink control of the RX through your beomaster.

Thanks for the reply..... I was wondering if you can tell by the 7000's serial number if it had the preamp integral. My reading up on other websites tells me that some do & some dont....

My guess is that you can safely bet it doesn't. It never was a standard option on the BM7000 (nor 6500), and not that many 7000 systems were sold with a turntable anyway.

But since the RX2 has RCA out and you won't get Datalink anyway, adding an external preamp will not be as much of a hassle as it could be (one 2xRCA - 5-pin DIN adapter after a regular preamp will do).

The CD part should be fine, although be warned that the mismatch in looks will get annoying.

Re: Beomaster 7000

Thanks for the reply.....
