The speed of my projects is not the same as your brilliantly fast shipping!

I hope to have some time this weekend to tear the BL7000 down. If all goes well -I will then attempt to assemble a separate photo thread dealing with the revival of the remote.

Once again, I appreciate your help with sourcing this unobtainable piece... my fingers are crossed that all will go well!

Remarkably, the 2-way (least likely to work) actually seems to be working! EVERYTHING else: Kapoohey!

I have parts on order and will let you know how I get along! My plan is to do a total rebuild on a new thread -Jandyt style.

That'll be a welcome thread - the service manual for BL7000 is mostly useless, and I don't think we've ever had much talk about the insides short of a battery replacement and the fix for the NO CONTACT issue (by Die_Bogener on the German forum I think).

Just a quick note...

Jason and I have hooked up and done some exchanging. It is nice to have someone in my relative vicinity for a change. He seems like a real nice fellow.

Ha! I meant to post that yesterday.

Beosystem 7000 was trhe top of the range in its day and is still way ahead of many other sound systems.
Controlling it with a plastic remote would be like casting pearls before swine.

A Beolink 1000 will definitely work with no problems whatsoever.

Ron - check if your remote is working at all. Take a digital camera or a camera phone (with live view) and point it at the transmitter end of the remote when you press buttons. You should see the LEDs flashing pale blue if the remote is working.

If it does, you either have a fault in your Beomaster, or if you just got it and never have seen it working with your remote, it may be programmed to the wrong option (IR receiver off). With the Beomaster in standby, press SOUND - 1 - STORE on the remote. If the standby LED blinks while doing this, there's a good chance you now have a workable combination

Even the oldest Beolinks maintain their value surprisingly well, the going price can easily be around 40-60 dollars / euros / pounds for a nice clean specimen. You can only find bargains if the seller doesn't know what he's selling - or if the deal includes an old television you need to carry away!

And Jason, you have a system that is easily worth $1000 or more in working condition. Don't be cheap on the remote! Those plastic things are horrible!

There is no question about it. A BL1000 will control a BS7000.

I assume that this system is new to you? Is the remote itself known good? Might it have been in a linked system prior to your ownership? Have you tried re-optioning it?

I still can't believe that there is not an easier way to control the volume on these things at least. I understand that is part of the charm but come on it is a hassle for those of us without a working remote!

Anyone know if you can buy the beolink 1000 anywhere other than ebay at reasonable prices?

I too have been having trouble getting a remote to work with my beosystem 7000. I have a beolink 1000 but cant seem to get it to do simple things like power on and off and to raise and lower volume on my system. I'm lucky enough to have the cylindrical speakers to go with the system but cant fully enjoy it because I cant change the volume. Any assistance some knowledgable person can give to get me unstuck will be greatly appreciated. ron
