The S75 speakers does not have a constant Ohm value due to the crossover units built inside, you can easily see it from ( they range from 4 to 8 Ohm according to music load)

That way, you would have 4 speakers, but the amplifier would be happily seeing a total load of a minimum of 8 ohms.

I trully appreciate your fast reaponses and I appologize for my duplicated posts. I am a 76-year-old newcomer to the world of computers and I have had difficulty gettiing used to mine. I guess I have to buy the book "Computers for Dummies."

I thank you both for your quick replies. I'll try the speakers this weekend and will only hook up the Beovox speakers to my receiver.

I intend to use the speakers on an older model Radio Shack receiver (probably a Sony) that I use at an out-door flea market booth where I seel on the weekends. I usually have the volume pretty high to provide ambiance throughout the area, and I don't want to blow the speakers out. I currently have two Sansui speakers hooked up and I thought of adding the Beovox pair but as I said in my initial post, I get conflicting stories from different people. I actually called the Beovox people (in Houston?) and they said they weren't sure if the speakers would be damaged using an 8ohm outpup.

You will not damage the speakers.
However, if your amplifier definitely mustn't drive speakers with an impedance lower than
8 ohms, there's a risk of damaging the amplifier.
Most amplifiers will indeed accept any Beovox passive speaker (like these) without problems, especially
if they are the only pair connected.

Some time ago, I bought a pair of Bevox S75-T6313 speakers (SN 2119003) at an estate sale. I then had to buy adapters for the speaker wires and then noticed that they were 4-ohm and my receiver called for 8-ohm.

Not wanting to damage the speakers (still not played) I called several electronics stores and got conflicting answers as to whether or not I could damage the speakers using an 8-ohm output so I hesitated until I could receive an expert opinion.

So I write to ask whether or not I can use my Bevox speakers with my 8-ohm output receiver, or do I somehow have to modify them?

The look so beautiful and I am anxious to try them out, but I don't want to damage them.

Sincerely,

John D. Aultman
