I think its just how the program works (i.e. how BO implements 5.1 with BL5) .... I can see though that you might like the BL5 setup with an active BL2 more in a 5.1 scenario .... I keep reading that you should not be able to locate the BL2 in a music setup, however in a 5.1 recorded track the engineer may just play with that channel in a way that BL5 (per B&O programming) do not exactly replicate the expeirence that you get with an active BL2.

thank you for you info i think you are right when listingen to 5.1 to a bl5 i think they don t get the right signal to perform

just like a bl2 and in music you don t need the bl 2

3 possibilities :

1. The room was too small or difficult to analyse for the integrated microphone of the Beolab5, so that there were this lack of bass.

2. There was a material in the room, like wooden floor, that made the bass response misbehave, so that the Beolab 5 limited their bass level.

3. The beolab 5 were not calibrated correctly...

There is an interesting thread on the Beolab 5 bass issue on the general forum.

But what is sure is that the 5's doesn't need a Beolab 2.

Your experience is interesting. I have never had the opportunity to do the comparison you did. We have Beolab 9s with a subwoofer and Beolab 1s as the rears. We are very happy with the sound. My understanding is that no subwoofer is needed with the Beolab 5s as the bass in them is better than most subwoofers. With the Beolab 9s some say a subwoofer is needed, others say it is not.

I would like to be able to do the same listening test you did.

Hello

maybe you can help me

i went to the store and watched a movie first whit
2xbl8000(second time whit 2xbl 9)
1xbl 2
1x7.2
2xbl6000

The sound was great just if i was in the movie both of the set-up was great

then i listened the same movie on
2xbl 5
1xbl 7.2
2xbl 6000

the sound was very clear and pure but there was missing something it was the bl2 i didnt get the
movie experience (also the staff heard it for the first time)
then we added the bl 2 dirrectly to the bv9 but we didnt heard anything
then we connected the bl2 directly to the bl5 but we didnt heard any difrents than before
then in the set-up menu we only changed the name of bl5 to bl9
an then the bl2 get signal and the sound was perfect
do you have some experience with this
