Goes on when you wave a hand in front, goes off when it's supposed to. I simply removed the doors and they remain removed for now. I never use the cassette player so the dust isn't so bad.

Re: Beosound 4000 / Ouverture glass door not working.

I think a proper diagnostic would be helpful before proceeding further.

First, does your Beosound's door motors run when one waves their hand in front of the unit?

If not, the power supply to the door may be out. The control board controlling the door motor may have been taken down with it.

If the motors run, does the motor run continuously? If so, it's most likely the belt which is attached to the door gear mechanism. It probably runs continuously because the limit switch for the door isn't being actuated - the belt might be too loose. Of course, it's a good idea to check this limit switch to see that it is working properly.

Re: Beosound 4000 / Ouverture glass door not working.

I spent an entire Sunday trying to restring the doors on my BeoSound 4000 and can vouch for the fact that even as a pretty hand person it was not easy, and in fact, remains unfinished. I found a service manual for a 3200, but there must be something different about the 4000, as I followed the instructions faithfully and still failed. Anybody with a service manual for the 4000 and willing to share it, would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: Beosound 4000 / Ouverture glass door not working.

Jay:

How "handy" are you? Restringing the door mechanism is not a walk in the park. Changing the belt is easier but still requires taking a few things apart.

Look up some of my previous posts on this topic.

The service manual is also online here and shows a diagram on how this can be done.

If you have minimal experience repairing mechanical things, its best to bring it in for service. Even taking the unit apart is a challenge! The BS 4000 series is not really service friendly. There are many plastic tabs that hold the plastic panels in place that can be easily broken if not treated with care. You need to remove 3 before getting to the gear box mechanism.

Derek

Beosound 4000 / Ouverture glass door not working.

Hi all,

Glass door on my BS4000 is stuck at open position and would not close. I unplug the power in fear that the motor might burn out.

I think the either the glass door is out of track or the the belt might be broken. Anybody with similar experience and perhaps might

have insight to fixing it yourself?

Thanks,

Jay
