At the back of the TV is a switch which says PAL / NTSC. I tried both but it didn't make any difference.

During the tuning, I can either select B/G or L, but both seem to work the same. The TV will search for a channel and when it stabilizes, it will go to B/G and I will only get static.

There are a few other switches behind which read Frequency 559-639, Attenuator On/off. Record Level, NTSC Pal 4.43 60 Hz.

I have tried fiddling with all but they don't seem to make a difference.

Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for the responses so far. I really appreciate them.

Re: Help with AV9000

Singapore is PAL B/G - I didn't think the AV9000 made it to the US. Where did it come from? It may simply be set to the incorrect type of PAL which allows picture but you will get the incorrect sound.

Go to where the tuning is and go to tune a programme and you will see the third box has a letter in it. This will be the system used by the TV. You can change this by using the up and down buttons on your remote. You need it to show B/G. The other options can be M which is NTSC, L which is SECAM L and I which is PAL I. Just had a quick play with mine which will do I, B/G and L. The types vary depending on which type of AV9000 you have!

Best of luck!

Re: Help with AV9000

You have a Pal formated TV that you are using in an NTSC system. The tuner can not decode the channels correctly.

Help with AV9000

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I just encountered. I have the AV9000 and recently moved to the US from Singapore. I just signed up for cable TV and I am unable to tune to TV to receive any of the channels correctly. The TV will detect channels and show a picture but all I get is static on the audio. I thought it might be an issue with the cable and the socket so I tried using another regular TV and that worked out fine. I thus figured that somehow the TV is either not configured to receive the channels here correctly or there's something I'm doing wrong with the tuning. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. I tried searching this forum but no one else seems to have had such a problem. Thanks for all your help and advice. Ben
