Whereas I have a lot of parts for the older B&O audio things, I have absolutely nothing for the Beolab 3500. It's way too new for me but I suggest asking B&O, they may still be able to supply the parts you need.

Hi Martin and Peter,

Do you happen to know if the motor for the Beocord 9000 is unique to the 9000 or was it an outsourced item.

If it were supplied by an outside source, if you could give me the serial number and hopefully brand, I might be able to find a replacement through the source. If I do, I sure will let everyone know!

Martin, In regard to the Beogram CDX, the lens was visibly dirty. So I cleaned it and the CDX has not misbehaved since. Thank you for this information as well.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the information on the Beocord 9000 motor.

In regard to the CDX player it performed flawlessly until we moved and I miscalculated the clearance necessary for the top to open. I have the unit on tacked glass top tables and the cord is too short to move the unit when in place. As such the door opened and couldn’t open fully and I couldn't move the CDX forward for clearance. It has been a problem ever since this event.

The CDX never fails to advance the CD about 4mms but then stops. Repeatedly. Open and close the door a few times and it is back to normal.

However, last night the CDX began distorting and skipping tracks. Selecting advance cured the issue and it played the rest of the evening without complaint. I imagine the lens needs a bit of clearing and I can take care of that.

If you find a motor for a 9000 please let me know.

Jeff,

Beocord 9000 motors are hard to come by. They are unique to this model due to the 2-speed rewind etc.
I currently don't have any. Some time ago, I started looking into the possibility of rebuilding these motors but haven't had time to conclude anything. Belts are available though.

What you can clean in the CD X is, I suppose, limited to the lens itself.
Isopropanol (tapehead cleaner) and cotton buds. Wipe dry with a clean cotton bud afterwards.
Intermediate faults in these machines are generally caused be the famous riveted vias and cracked solders, especially at the voltage regulators and adjacent components at the power supply board.

My Beocord 9000, with its noisy motor has now given up the ghost. The play head engages, but immediately releases, as there is no tape motion. As the motor is silent, I assume that it packed it in.

Martin, I need a replacement motor and a new belt. Please send me a PM or email with the costs for these items.

Also in an unrelated issue, I am having more problems with my CDX player, occasionally refusing to play a CD or like yesterday skipping passages. I know it needs cleaning, as this has already been suggested, but asking a stupid question: How do I clean this unit?
