Picked up a 1800 turntable in great shape. It's nostalgic for me since it's the same one my big brother had when we were kids (and he still has his) so I'm familiar with it. Now it has RCA's, and stupid me got rid of my 20+ year old sony reciever when I moved only to discover that the crap one that replaced it of course has no phono inputs or ground (or bass or treble if you can believe that). So I'm thinking I'd love to stack this on a nice old B&O reciever, maybe something in the 5000-7000 series. Is that a good match? I've looked at so many of them of the last few weeks that I can no longer retain all the info, so what do folks think would be a good pick? Do any B&O recievers have phono rca inputs? I know there are pin to rca converters, but is there a bugger that goes the other way, rca to whatever number pins? Is it worth it if there is, or will there be a noticable sound quality loss. I only have a well curated, and much loved small record collection now. I've dumped all my cds, so the only other thing I might do is run a usb dac to it, so I can cut back on clutter more than anything, which is part of the reason I dig the old B&O stuff in the first place. Thanks for advice!

I have a BeoCenter 9000. Some LEDs don't turn on in different modes. For example, when switched to radio, no LEDs are on and there are no controls available on the Beocenter. but when I choose radio from the remote, The controls come up on Beocenter and I can play with them on the Beocenter itself. Also the LEDs will light if I am in programming mode for clock!

I am not fimiliar with this model at all. I watched some videos on youtube and I know some LEDs not lighting up, these LEDs light up in other modes so I know they are not burnt.

My setup is finally complete but not without teething issues.

Issue 1: Since the masterlink was finished, the remote crashes regularly whether or not I press a button. The screen goes blank, blackens all then pixels, then comes on under the TV setting regardless of what source was selected previously. It never displays 'Battery' and the batteries are fresh. Has anyone had this problem before? I have reset the remote but to no avail. It failed in it the dealer showroom, as well.

Issue 2: My 9000 is a mk1 (1997) and emits a high pitched whine during CD playback through the speakers. It is more noticable with CD from 1988 than from 1998. My dealer claims it is the analog nature of the original audio mastering being converted by the analog-digital coverter in the 9000 and that newer model 9000s make no such whine. This sounds far fetched to me. Any thoughts?

Beocom 2 problems

Hey, I have a pair of Beocom 2's which have never worked in my home.
I recently purchased a used beolab 8002 speakers and beosound 9000 cd system. They are European models (220v) and I am in north America, so I have a power supply plugged into a step up converter. The speakers are set to left and right and have a green status icon when the beosound is on and playing music, however no sound comes out of the speakers. I have Also tried using an RCA cable and setting the switch to line and hooking up to iPhone and still no sound. Any suggestions?

I am having an annoying issue with my sound system setup and wondered if anyone could help troubleshoot this from a distance. The problem is fairly simple, but I wanted to fully detail all of the steps I've already taken and hopefully someone can isolate a commonality and resolve it for me.

Basic Configuration:

I have a pair of BeoLab 3's that originally used genuine B&O DIN connectors to RCA jacks. In turn, I used a cable from Radio Shack to convert the two RCA channels (left and right) to a single male mini jack. I could then plug this directly into my computer or iPhone/iPad and play music and control volume from my computer.

In the spirit of trying new configurations (and wanting to control this setup with my Beo4 remote), I plugged my iPhone into my BeoSound 1 AUX port and plugged the mini jack that connected to the BeoLab 3's into the headphone jack on the back of the BeoSound 1. This way, the BeoSound gave me not only volume control but also a radio and CD player.

This setup in either configuration works flawlessly.

New Addition:

I then aquired a BeoLab 11 subwoofer to the configuration. The BeoLab 11 is configured in the following manner: The PowerLink input socket is a DIN to mini jack connected to my computer or iPhone and the PowerLink outputs go to each of the BeoLab 3's. Everything sounds magnificent.

I can also connect my BeoSound 1 to the mix using the method described above without issue.

The Problem:

Everything works without issue until one thing is done: if I plug in my computer to the A/C adaptor and into the wall, the speakers emit a buzzing noise that goes away instantly if I unplug my computer from the wall and let it run on batteries. Same thing with the iPhone/iPad (although the buzzing sound is admitedly less -- probably because my computer pulls more current than does my iPhone).

This buzzing noise only started occuring when I added the BeoLab 11. I even reverted the changes to cut the BeoLab 11 out of the picture again and my computer can be plugged into the BeoLab 3's without a buzzing noise.

Things I've tried:

* Reverting the configuration back to the BeoLab 3's only -- the sound disappears meaning it's probably something with the BeoLab 11.

* Different iPhones, iPads, and laptops -- to rule out if it was just my devices or other peoples.

* Changing which wall sockets I power my laptop to -- no difference

Does anyone know how to resolve this buzzing noise? Is there a switch on either/both the BeoLab 3's or the BeoLab 11 that I need to set?

Thanks for your help and please let me know if you have any questions.

And that's when I noticed the problem. There is supposed to be a button between the two charging pins in the base that you're supposed to press to get the base to register handsets. I've pressed and pressed that button and nothing happens on the base, no flashing and I can't register any handsets.

First I realize that I *might* not be able to use the Beocom 1 handsets with the Beocom 6000 pyramid base, I was just hoping that I could. But now I'm more worried that if for whatever reason my existing Beocom 6000 handsets get de-registered from the Beocom 6000 I have no way to re-register them back. So, does anybody have any experience with the old Beocom 6000 pyramid base and why the registering button doesn't seem to work? Is there another way to put the base into "registration" mode? Please?

Thanks

I replaced the belt and the cassette player works perfectly when partially disassembled, however, when I put it all back together the cassette engages plays for a second, reversers and plays a second, and stops.

This can be repeated several times with no difference.

However, with nothing changed, the tape untouched, when I try later the tape plays flawlessly for 5 minutes or more until it again stops, changes direction and then stops completely.

Today I tried again for the heck of it and the taped played all the way to the end of the tape, I held my breath and it reversed direction and played for about 10 minutes before the usual stop, reverse, stop.

Any ideas what could be causing this very peculiar problem?

I know that something is triggering the double-reversing but have NO idea what.
