Afterwards, I guess that find some technician to replace it in my Avant it shouldn't be a problem once I have the new tube with me.

Re: AVANT 32 100hz VCR met defekte beeldbuis!

A new tube for a 28" (100Hz type 8300) avant is around 550,- (B&O price) so i think 1500,- for replacing a 32" seems rather 'overpriced', try inquiring at B&O Netherlands, Naarden (if they still exist: i remember them as good, friendly and honest people) also for a price.
To my knowledge there isn't any cheap replacement type, i've been looking for these (for 50 Hz T8111 and T8300) but it seems like the ones used in the Avant were designed for B&O, although indeed other type of Philips tubes seem to be sold for 150,- to 200,- but B&O still charges (actually increased the price last year...) sky-high prices for the tube.

Replacing isn't all that much work, a couple of hours and some proper space :).

For the mentioned 1500,- i'd say: go for a RF avant !! (maybe try a good trade in at a dealer, your broken Avant on a RF type, these days you must be able to make a nice deal....).

Re: AVANT 32 100hz VCR met defekte beeldbuis!

Inderdaad!

Thank you Ignace

Re: AVANT 32 100hz VCR met defekte beeldbuis!

Hi Donato

Welcome to BeoWorld !

I see you've found your way to the forum.

Regards,

Ignace

AVANT 32 100hz VCR met defekte beeldbuis!

Dear Members,

My Beovison Avant 32" 100hz VCR it starts to display green lines on the background of the picture. I'm pretty sure is a faulty shotgun in the cathode ray tube.

B&O Amsterdam told me that they would replace the picture tube for 1500euro which is crazy for a 8yrs old CRT TV.

However, I do like very much the design of the Avant same as all B&O models from '80-90 (I have also a BeoOuverture and a beautiful Beolink 7000), therefore I would try to restore my TV even paying 500-600 euro instead of buying a LCD TV for the same repairation cost.

I have heard that it is possible to fit a new Picture Tube (beeldbuis) from Philips (that cost ±100-150euro) in my Avant. I read some people did in US accoding to a B&O unoffical internet forum.

I'm wondering if some of you know some good TV technician who's keen in B&O TVs and can do this work to my Avant in Amsterdam where I live.

Obviously, my official B&O dealer in A'dam wouldn't this cheaper Philips replacement work as is only focused to sell me a new B&O LCD (trading-in my Avant) which, honestly, I can't afford at today.

Thank you beforehand and best regards,
Donato
