This is the same setup you could do, minus the MCP 9000.

Re: Wat kan hiermee (Beolink 7000 toebehoren)?

Leslie -

The MCP 9000 has all the capabilities of the Beomaster 7000, plus the CD and Tape player. The only advantage of the Beomaster 7000 is that it has a built in amplifier to drive passive speakers. So hooking the Beomaster 7000 to the MCP 9000/AV 9000 does not give you a benefit. The MCP 9000 is a masterlink product, which is a different type of network than the older master control link (MCL). The Beomaster 7000 and your XTRA kit are MCL products. There is a product, still available from B&O called the Beolink that allows you to bridge an MCL and an ML network. So you could theoretically control the MCP 9000 from another room using your XTRA kit and the Beolink 7000. However, since the MCP 9000/AV 9000 are one way remote control, and the Beolink 7000 is two way, that would not be very satisfying.

I think all that would make sense would be to buy a Beogram CD 7000, hook it to your Beomaster 7000, then connect it to the AV9000, leaving out the MCP9000, via the Beolink. Then you could connect the XTRA 7000 in another room, with another pair of speakers. You could then play the Beomaster 7000 and Beogram CD 7000 through the speakers connected your AV9000, in the main room, controlling with the Beo4 remote in that room. In the other room, you would use the Beolink 7000 RDS and listen to music on speakers in that room.

Re: Wat kan hiermee (Beolink 7000 toebehoren)?

Thanks Ignace, helpfull as always.
Most of the stuff I have like the ML junction box.

You think you can supply me a sort of a schematic diagram how to connect.

Besides the Beolink 7000 RDS and the Xtra 7000 kit I got a Beomaster 7000 and AV 9000 with MCP 9000 RDS. Is there any combination possible to have all these things linked? Don't have any knowledge about linking B&O equipment and reading the ML manual does not help me any further.

Much appreciated!

Hi Leslie -

What you have is a very rare item, called the XTRA Speaker Kit 7000. I have two of these. It allows you to have a multi room setup with one of the two way B&O Audio system masters (Beomaster 4500, Beomaster 9000, Beomaster 6500, or Beomaster 7000). The 4500 and 6500 do not support the RDS display feature (radio station text information) on the Beolink 7000, but everything else works. Basically, you have the master unit in one room with its set of speakers, and you can have another set of speakers in another room, called the "link" room. You install the XTRA kit into the wall of the link room, connect it to the master unit in the other room, and speakers in the link room. You hang the Beolink 7000 on it the round aluminum charging station. It provides power to charge the Beolink 7000, and two way communications with the master unit. When you remove the Beolink 7000, the round unit has a two way infrared eye used for commanding the master unit.

Here are the parts you have:

Round silver Infrared eye, hangs on the wall. The RDS 7000 hangs on this.

Square silver power supply, which usually goes on the bottom of the wall.

MCL box (the larger box with the white cover)

Thin gray cable, which goes between MCL box and the Infrared eye.

Two wire cable, with small white connector, that supplies power to the infrared eye. The white connector plugs into the power supply, and the other end connects to the infrared eye.

Thick white cable, which goes from the MCL box to the Beomaster, usually routed inside walls between the rooms.

Speaker link to Powerlink converter cable. This is the tan colored cable that has two plugs on one end, and a round 8 pin connector on the other end. The two plugs go into the MCL box, the powerlink connector goes to an active speaker, such as Beolab 3000,5000,6000,8000,4.

Active speakers have a second powerlink socket on them. You run the cable from the MCL box to one speaker, and then you get a powerlink cable to go from speaker to speaker. Active speakers have built in amplifiers, and have power plugs that plug into the wall. You can also use passive speakers with this setup. You will need speaker link cables that replace the power link cable. In that case, you have to run a separate cable to each passive speaker.

Things you don't have:

Mounting bracket for hanging the infrared eye on the wall (unless it is on the back of the unit, not shown in the pictures). Since the infrared eye was used in much more common setups, you should be able to pick up a bracket from B&O or ebay.

Mounting bracket for the power supply (I need one of these two, I don't know where to get one - maybe impossible to find)

MCL junction box. This is a small plastic box with a terminal strip in it for screwing wires into it. This is still available from B&O

MCL cable. This was wires on one end, and two connectors on the other end that look very much like the two grey connectors you have on the Speaker link to powerlink cable.

Powerlink cable to go from one active speaker to the other.

Alternatively, two speakerlink cables if you want to use passive speakers. This is still available from B&O.

You run the white cable, called Master Control Link, or MCL cable, through the wall to the main room with the beomaster. The wires on the end are attached to the terminal in the MCL junction box. The MCL cable wires are screwed into the junction box terminal also. Then you plug the connectors into the link sockets on the back of the beomaster. Then you're ready to go.

Good luck! Let me know how it comes out.

-Gregg

Beolink 7000

AV 9000 met MCP (RDS+2 way com))

Beosystem 7000

Beolab Penta 1 (speakerlink).

Zijn met deze spullen mooie combinaties te maken?

Nogmaal, ik ben helemaal niet thuis in het B&O link gebeuren

@Blackrix

Wat vraag je voor de lader? (PM)
