You can use an XM10 modem and an AD10 switch if you want to control the mains for the projector and screen - http://www.lintronic.dk/X10_TransmittersReceivers.htm

The Cinecreen is not important, any screen - controlable by IR - should work. I did not want to spend much money for the devices, because I first wanted to test the cinema installation, that`s why I got the cinescreen and Hitachi. http://exclusiv-home.de/online_shop/?cPath=24

My Beo-dealer knows about my cinema solution, and he uses the Lintronic box in some installations - they are both in denmark.

The Lintronic Box is a quite cool thing, however, it takes a while to understand the details how to operate the box. But at the end it is quite simple.... you just need the box, the USB cable and a powersupply.

A Lintronic or a "poor man's Beoliving" workshop would be a very nice idea. There are so many things you can do but as you said, the start is quite tough and to understandwhere to start spending money to get the best bang for the buck.

Light and screen control can be done very cheap (IR codes) or very expensive (Crestron, EIB, Lutron)....

Full HD resolution and BV7-40 (7-32?) has an analogue VGA out with 1280 x 720p resolution. A lot projectors will work with this seup. I tested it with Sanyo Z5 and Hitachi TX-300,and I heared there are some problems with Panasonics (no picture...). The cinema control module in BV7-40 MK II has a 3,5 mm stereo jack, in BS3 you will find a 9 pin plug. But they both just closes 2 contacts when in cinema mode and opens again in normal TV mode. You can set up the timings in cinema timings menu. these 2 contacts are used for trigger the lintronic -238 box - see www.lintronic.dk. The system is fully automated. I (or my kids) just press "cinema" on the Beo5 and the lintronic box starts a macro: the X-10 module connects screen and projector to the mains, IR turns on the projector and let the screen come down, the cinema control module turns the BV7 to STANDBY-position, sound changes to SPEAKER 5 mode, IR changes to LIGHT 9 (cinema mood) TV-picture closes and opens on the screen. This is done by 1 contact, the 2nd is free. Maybe I should let it start the popcorn machine....?? Anyway, when I press "cinema" again, the whole thing starts again to bring all to normal TV mode. After 90 seconds, when the projector cooled down the X-10 module disconnects screen and projector from the mains. The same thing happens, and I think this is important, when pressing the STANDBY button, while the system is in cinema mode.
Setup is: BV7-40 MKII - Hitachi TX-300 (1000 Euro) - Cinescreen 16:9, 110" ( 200 Euro) - Lintronic -238 box (200 Euro) - X-10 modul (about 50 Euro?) - +some cables (10 m VGA...)

HI Stefan, First of all thanks for your detailed description, It really helps when you have no clue where to start. One question is. Does the people in B&O dealer shops no about your specific solution? I mean do they recommend Lintronic etc. I would have never had any idear how to make it work with a non supported projector if it was not for this forum. Is your Cinescreen automatic?? I have tried surfing a bit on lintronic but still cant seem to figure out what i need. I would be very happy if i may be allowed to contact you again if i need any help (I definitely will). Further more can you maybe provide some precise links to the linctronic box, cinescreen etc. That would really be nice.

By the way, where are you from if I may ask?

sure I remember our session at the Beoliving theatre! Was a great event!

What you have suggested is my plan B actually, however, I am not 100% happy with this little tweak after I spent so much money for the "Stage Manager" BS3....The Lintronic box controlls my JVC via RS232, I am only missing the IR codes for my Davision screen (Michael from Lintronic never came back to me on the codes) to fully automate the "hit the cinema" button show.

Actually as far as I remember I have seen the menu access of the Samsung projector in Beoliving Setup in L.A. last year.

My B&O dealer mentioned to me, that their service partner is able to calibrate the screen and projector according to the B&O suggestions. B&O offers a kit for this. I will aks them for a quote.

That is a very sad anwser giving that not all projectors work. I remember the discussion that someone had a BV7 and it came out that some just don't at all (no picture). I would think it's not much more then testing the setup and building the STBC codes.

Hi Karsten,

maybe Lintronic can solve your blacklevel problem...Tell the box to choose a HDMI input connected directly to your HD source when in cinema mode. If you want BS3 as input of the JVC you can change it with your Beo4/5.

I have full control of my Hitachi and the screen in mode FORMAT: GREEN is MENU, RED, YELLOW,BLUE are settings in the Hitachi Menu,

up - down - left - right are for navigation in MENU, GO = enter, 4 - 5 - 6 are for choosing 3 different inputs 7 = screen down, 8 = screen stop.

9 = screen up .

I heard, Beo only offers on-off codes of Samsung and SIM2 projectors. We had a beoliving-presentation in Struer last year, you remember?

Some time ago I had a intersting discussion with the guy who is in charge of the beoliving concept in Germany (he helps dealers to plan and setup the demo rooms). As far as I recall the discussion the BS3 takes over full control of the projector, not just switching on and off. Pressing the menu button on the beo4 gives access to the projector menu (same as the STB). According to this gentleman B&O adjust colour settings and Gamma as well to give the customer the "full Beoliving expierience". While suporting only outdated projectors I asked if B&O would consider updateing the list e.g. with my JVC HD1 I got a No, please use a IR translater like the Lintronik box. However, this does not solve the blacklevel problem with the BS3.

Unfotunately B&O always stops just close to the finishing line with their recent products....

But is a beamer connected to a BS3 not an entirely different thing than one connected to your non bs3 bv 7??

Excuse me for my ignorance, but my dealer seems to have absolutely no idear when it comes to beamers etc.

My wish is to have it connected to my bv 7-32 beeing able to use all inputs in this. PS3, dvd etc. Furthermore i would prefer it to be absolutely automated just like you describe Mr. Anderson.

Is a beamer solution better with a bs3, and if yes, why is this? I might be considering upgrading my 32" to a 7-40 when (and if) this becomes 100 hz etc. However i like my tv not being much bigger than 32" for ordinary tv watching. The idear is then to supplement this screen with a beamer for the great movie experiences.

My set-up is:

BV9-PS3-Sanyo PLV4 beamer-Euroscreen-MEP server

When I press Cinema my beamer starts by MEP server and 15 sek later screen comes down and my LC2 dims

The MEP server is a little server that can handle IR, radio and X10 and is web based interface

Wow, sounds nice. It is something like this i want. So you are saying that when using a lintronic box, the beamerselection is far less limited?

Any pointers on projectors, moterscreen etc.?

Can you maybe provide us with some pictures of your setup?

I have a BV7-40 MK II incl. cinema control module. My beamer is a Hitachi TX-300 connected to the projector out of the BV7. There is a Lintronic box connected to the cinema control module (via digital input). When pressing FORMAT-0 or CINEMA (on Beo5) the Lintronic box triggered by the cinema control module controls the TX 300, the motor screens, the lights (LC2s)... works great.

Hmm, but the feature to have the BV turning the beamer on and off is in my opinion also crucial. Howcome there is so few supported?

Mr. Anderson, do you have your beamer connected to your BV aswell? (no BS3) If yes, can you maybe explain me the setup.
