ok... I'm aware of the converter, but it's much cheaper for me to make my own switchbox

If it's what you wan to do, there is a box called beolink converter, buy it from eBay or Lee, it works really well. What audio master do you want to connect to which video master?

Spot on: Muting the TV does not affect the AUX output from the tv. What TV does you have?

The reason I am asking is, that it might be possible to convert the aux into MasterLink. Then you would not need a swich box, and you would be able to control the tv via the BS4, even from a link room.

Audio AUX link carries line level stereo signals between Beo products. It also carries datalink, which enables eg. a Beomaster and a Beovision to communicate. Please note, that there is a difference between audio aux link, and audio aux, for instance the Beosound 9000 has audio aux, but that does not include link. Link is only possible via the MasterLink socket. Datalink is only used in old products.

PowerLink carries volume adjusted stereo signal, for use between a audio souce and BeoLab speakers. Some (MK 2) also carries data for display.

So to answer our question, volume with audio aux is handled by the product which recieves the signal, not the souce, whereas PowerLink is the other way around.

Hi,

can anyone please comment on the technical differences of the Powerlink and Audio AUX link.

I know that the AUX offers audio in/out but what I'm most interested in is to know if the audio output is controlled via the volume setting on the television or not?
