Yes, sorry I meant the type 1611 which would do the MCL/ML trick. Probably better than via an MCL2AV + sensor because, as Stig says the 3500 display might not function correctly with this arrangement.

It probably would but I can't quite get my head around how practical the control system would be!

You don't need a MCL/ML converter

Better to buy a Type 1611 Masterlink converter on ebay for around £50 and do the job properly.

Never heard of a MCL to ML converter... but anyway yes if MCL2AV has it's own Ir eye (I don't now if the display will work)

I have a 9300 and two 3500's. The MCL cable goes from the 9300 to the 3500. You do not need the MCL2AV for that. I have the MCL2AV, which is also fed via the MCL cable, but that is to run a pair of CX-50's.

Direct with MCL cable would be my choice. Or Masterlink converter/Masterlink.

Don't know if it would work with MCL2AV

I would connect it directly to MCL cable or to an MCL2AV. A BC9500 is the source.

BL3500's shipped in the last year or two have powerlink and masterlink. This for compatibility with Beolink Wireless.

Prior to this they had MCL and Masterlink.

What do you plan to connect it to?

When they installed mine in 1999 when it was used in connection with a BC2300 they installed a converter. I didn't ask any questions at the time but they went from Aux on the 2300 to the converter and then Masterlink from the converter to the 3500.

The Beoworld user manual section shows the Beolab 3500 having ML and MCL connections. Does this speaker still have an 8 pin MCL socket or is an ML/MCL converter now required? Can the 3500 be operated using an MCL2AV and powerlink?
