I am learning lots of great new terms in here: chippy, sparky, etc. And it's interesting to see how differently houses are built in the UK as compared to canada. Mark, what is the age of your house?

You can see by this photo how good the plastering is.

its good what can happen over a brew on site especially all trades willing to co-operate and trade skills, suppose its a perk?

Ah, the fireplace....... i was hoping nobody would ask me that.

Idealy we would like a contemporary multi-fuel burning stove sat on slate tiled hearth, but due to being skint and the cost of £1000 its something that will have to wait so i will probably make the hearth with some paving slabs and slate tile it and stick a vase of flowers on it, until i can afford the stove, unless i have a better idea............... so dont know yet.

Lovely just hanging on wall, no clutter, no cables, lovely job. Re the gaffer, at least a tin of paint is a good compromise, when i bought my first B&O last year the gaffer loved the minamalist look and has decorated the living room accordingly, plenty of chrome, black and white.

Looking at ebay for something to hang on the wall in the bedroom so i can wake up to perfection in sound and can become a bolt hole.

So as you can see, the system is once again wired up and working, the TV will have to come out of the room again, for me to do the flooring at the end of next week. but the 9000 is staying exactly where it is forever, as if you have ever tried connecting up the hidden cables on a horizontally mounted system you will now how hard it is.

I didnt get any photos of me painting, but the Sunday 'just gone', i got up early and started to paint.

Firstly on a freshly plastered surface your fist coat wants to be a watered down coat of emulsion, this will dry fairly quickly, so once i had done that off i went to B&Q to buy the paint that SWMBO had spent weeks contemplating over.

Got home, white paint on ceiling, three shades of grey on the walls and after 9 hours of painting i sat down to hear SWMBO state that she Hates the shade of grey that went on the chimney brest.

Currently sat here tonight my room looks like this......

a good plasterer is worth his weight in thistle..ere sorry gold! the finish coat is everything in my book and it makes an excellant job just awesome. Nice to hear your man took his time.

Lovely project, just a thought when i terminated my ML boxes i soldered them i just didn't like the idc (push on) system.

Great project good luck with the rest, a compliments from a spark.

Most of that weekend was spent knocking off any other loose plaster and 'PVA'ing the walls and ceiling. (This is done with a watered down PVA glue which plasterers use so that the actual plaster sticks to the wall, mainly where they are plastering over already plastered/painted walls).

Then, one day later than planned Andy my plasterer turned up and made a start.

Unforunately i didnt get a photo of the completely finished plastered room, but it took Andy two and a half days.
