Hello Peter . That's the way I'm thinking , getting a BeoSystem 3 , I have never felt the need for a Lab2 with the Penters as they have excellent base on there own but I have two Lab2's about the house and can try one when I get my system together . An 80" screen seams to be the size I will go for and the best one is the American one at £5000 . There are so many projectors out there , there's no way I can view them all or see them perform side by side . I will have a look at Lincoln's set-up to get an idea of B&o's cost . As you know I've had B&o since the early 70's and never considered any other make till recently , I have been going to change my Bv3 for a Bv7-40 for 3 years now but have been put off by the criticism it's received and it's 10x rebranded price . B&o have made me and many others I suspect a bit cynical as to what you get for your money , a few years ago I never questioned there value .

Hi Richard,

The B&O offering is a Beosystem 3 and a good Samsung projector. I would probably consider getting that away from B&O!! The important bit is the screen! Get as good a one as possible. The BS3 will let you use all 6 Pentas and you will need a centre speaker and probably a sub woofer. I would ask for a home demo with a Beolab 2 and probably a Beolab 7.2 as the centre speaker.

Had a look in my local Seven Oaks just to get an idea as to what else is out there besides B&o and to get a price comparison , I found them a bit disorganised but the picture quality has greatly improved since I last looked at home cinema a few years ago . Going to have a view of the B&o offering and expect to be more impressed , the most important factor for me is it's ability to play standard and Hd Dvd's perfectly with little or no trade-off . Also they had a Phillips programmable remote , ( can't remember the model number but colour screen with icons ) , £700 + programming cost starting at £100 , makes the better looking Beo5 look cheap.

My experience is that the positioning of the projector in relation to the projected image size, light conditions is very important to select properly; not enough light from the projector is a problem, but too much is also affecting the picture quality. On the link shown you can easily determine if a projector fits your situation. Make sure you select a projector for home cinema use with a natural 16:9 ratio.

A BeoSystem 3 would be best as it supports up to four surround sound speakers I believe, along with two main ones for 7.1 surround sound. Add in a centre channel (such as a pair of BeoLab 5000s behind an acoustically transparent screen) and you'll have a proper cinema setup...

I am in the process of doing a makeover in my snooker room and have an area of about 20 ft. square at the end that I would like to install a cinema set-up . I have a BeoSystem 4500 and 6 Penta 3's in this room and want to incorporate them in this set-up . Do I have to use a BeoSystem 3 to do this ? Can anyone recommend a system using 4 or more of these speakers ( will need a centre speaker also ) , I will install a power down screen but I haven't a clue what projector to get , I only intend watching films and have a large collection of standard Dvd's so I want a projector that will give me the best picture on standard and Hd .
