If he does that he still ends up with holes in the wall. I would just leave the BL2500 where they are but disconnect them and use BL3 next to the BV8. Connect the BS2300 via MCL converter to the BV8 if you havent done that already.

Compared to the BL2500 that will give a huge improvement in sound. Down the line, you can even add the BL2 since the BL3 will hold up.

Here's an idea. Why not move the BeoSound 2300 with the attached BeoLab 2500s to another room, such as in a kitchen etc... and link this to the BeoVision 8. The connect a nice new pair of speakers to the BeoVision 8 and you can still access the BeoSound 2300 in the lounge despite it being in a different room?

Hi guys,

thank you very much for your answer. Because I do not have any clue, I really thank you for your argument.

First of all, I though to "pimp" the present system, because the sound of the BL 2500 with the Beosound 2300 is

a little "slim". But, because the 2300 with the 2500 is placed with the original wall holder in front of my sofa, I`m afraid

of changing the system (o.k., if have to admit, my wife refuses ;-)

So I though of adding some kind of speakers to the remaining speakers to gain a better sound.

But of cause you are right, it does not make any sence to add the BL 4000 or BL 3, because they are the much better

speakers in comparison to the BL 2500 and will dilute them?

I really like the view of the Overture together with the BL 2500 placed at the wall and I would have difficulties in replacing

them, because of the visual appearance.

If your position is not to add new speakers to the BL 2500, because in my cause it does not make any sence to play the

4 speakers together, I will not buy any new stuff, becauce you are the experts. I do not want to burn money for nothing or

only for very limited payoff.

I agree with Alex. The main issue here is that with a Beovision 8 you can't have surround sound and 4 speakers aren't better for music than 2 speakers. The only thing you can do (at least in my opinion) is replace your existing Beolab 2500's with Beolab 4000's or better still Beolab 3's. Perhaps not the answer you were hoping for, but this is just my thought.

I wouldn't connect them both! Personally I believe music comes with two channels of audio for a good reason. The musicians/engineers have mixed it to be heard on two speakers not four. Even if you do prefer the sound of two pairs of speakers (which to me sounds vague), you'll be mixing two completely different sounding pairs of speakers which is absolutely a no-no.

More speakers doesn't mean better sound, it just means more sound, and to be honest, I doubt you'll ever push the BeoLab 4000s or BeoLab 3s very hard if your room isn't big enough for rears.

Bear in mind, the BeoVision 8 doesn't have surround sound, so you can't really get proper surround sound.

IMO, your best bet is to go with a pair of BeoLab 3s, as they're a world apart from the BeoLab 2500s.

The suggestion would probably be replace rather than add or you will lose the stereo sound stage. You can daisy chain speakers as you describe though.

I actually rather like 2500s. They do have limitations but are rather good for their size and match the Ouverture nicely. Are you happy with them? What are you trying to achieve? I always like to know what it is you want before advising spending money! Remember, we all have different tastes and what I may think is great, you could hate!

And will I be able to operate the BL 2500 together with the BL 4000?

Is it possible to use the Y-powerlink plug (Beosound 2300 has 2 powerlink connexion).

So I will connect the 2 BL 2500 with the first Y-joint and the BL 4000 with the 2nd Y-joint

with the Beosound 2300? Or will I connect the speakers in a kind of serial connection??

Well i have BL2500's and i don't like them. They are ugly, and they sound average. Of course the BL4000 is under appreciated, they are mind blowingly good, i recommend finding another owner for the BL2500 and invest in BL4000's, they are not very expensive, second hand and you can wall mount then next to ouverture. Nice!

Actually have just bought a pair of BL4000s today! I need some for my AV9000 and simply don't have room for floor standing speakers in the room in which it is. I could have used my BL3s but I think the 4000s match the AV9000 rather better.

Dear Dave:

No worries a ---saving for a piece of equiptment is time honored tradition for those with a sense value, taste, and style. As mentioned, the best way to determined if the BL 2 will 'fit' your taste in music is to have the dealer bring one to your house and audition them.

Just about any speaker system will improve when a sub is added. Keeping in mind what the sub's does, you can see the benefit. It will allow your speaker to 'breath' easier and work less hard to reproduce the lower frequencies.

While you're auditioning the BL 2, you may also want you dealer to bring a pair of BL 4000. They are under-appreciated.

Would it make any sence in your opinion to add a pair of used BL 4000 (bought from ebay) to the existince unit?

Do you think the BL 4000 or maybe BL 3 will overdrown the BL 2500 and make the BL 2500 useless?

And is it even possible to operate the old Beosound 2300 with 4 speakers?

You could ask your dealer for a home demo. I would lend you mine to try but I guess you are probably not that close. The Beolab 2 is excellent for films but less acceptable for music in my experience. Your problem is the lack of surround sound in the BV8 so rears will not be possible.

By the way, you are just as much a part of the target audience - we don't all have BL5s and BV9s !

I have a Beosound 2300 with Beolab 2500's mounted on the wall in my study. This really is a small room and I think the sytem really works very well there. I actually quite like the sound, although it is clearly nowhere near as good as the superb Beolab 3's. Personally I wouldn't spent any money on the Beolab 2. It's a bit slow and boomy for my taste. You could try and get a pair of Beolab 4000's instead. Often overlooked, but they sound better than the Beolab 2500's.

thank you for your answer. Yes, I´ve already listened to the BL 3. But does it make any sence to add an additional pair of peakers to the the Beolab 2500? The Overture with the BL 2500 is fixed to the front wall of the living room. Right to the Overture I placed the new telly Beovision 8-32. Because the living room is not very big, it makes no sence of front - and rear speaker.

And of cause, if I take the Overute with the BL 2500 down the wall, there will be some very ugly holes in the wall. Because I decorated the living room only a couples of mounth ago, I do not like the thought of replacing the B&O hi-fi unit.

So the only way at the moment is to add an additional pair of speakers and/or a subwoofer in front of the sofa? I`d like to keep the Overture and the BL 2500 (yes, it is more than 10 years old, but still beautiful). Because if have to work very hard for my money, I do not have thousands to spend for the equipment. So I`d like to upgrade the existing unit and not to replace it.

So maybe I´m not the 100% target person for B&O, because I have to safe the money a very very long time to afford such things like hi-fi unit and telly from B&O. Now and in the future I will not be able to spend the counter value of a car the entertainment units.

I think it would be a waste of money, The 2500's in that setup aren't very good in my opinion, they are very average speakers. You could buy better beolabs for that money, ever seen the Beolab 3's?

They would provide much much better sound.
