At that time it was sold as a MCL (Master Link Control) interface only product, yet from day one hidden behind a black plug was a Masterlink socket which could be switched on with a simple Service Menu command. As many dealers soon found out, using the Masterlink with version 1.0 software had its limitations because not all Masterlink commands worked.

With the introduction of software version 2.0 it provided full Masterlink functionality, plus timer functions as well as displays like DTV

So, if you were to switch your Beolab 3500 to MCL and connect it directly to the MCL (via the speaker sockets to din cable) of your 6500 I think you will find that you would then get the clock, subject to the clock being setup on the 6500

So, when you previously said that you think you saw the clock work when you first had the unit, I expect this was when it was connected to the MCL.

As you have a Lexcom system which goes via a converter, then if you want the full Masterlink functionality and clock, then I suggest you upgrade the software of the Beolab 3500. I have previously written an FAQ on how to do this upgrade which is HERE

Re: Clock on Beolab 3500

Yes I did, but thanks anyway.

When I set it to Clock1 or Clock2 I get the colon separator but no hour or minute digits.

/Peter

Re: Clock on Beolab 3500

Yes, Beo-ap is correct, I am assuming you did have the clock switched on

Re: Clock on Beolab 3500

I had the same "no clock" problem with my 3500, though my set up is ML only. Some one on the old forum sent the following instructions and it solved my problem:

You have 3 options for the clock display of a BL3500.

NO CLOCK - no time indication - on standby just the red dot and when playing just the source is shown
CLOCK.1 - on standby, the time is shown. When playing there is a permanent display of the selected function - use this if you have no clock in your audio or video master

CLOCK.2 - (factory default) on standby, the time is shown. When playing - time is on, except briefly when you when operate a function locally or on the remote control

To change the selected clock function:

a. Keep your finger on the TIMER key, while pressing the MUTE key briefly, several times.
b. The display shows a cue for the current setting.
c. Touch MUTE again, and the cue in the display changes.
d. Keep touching MUTE this way until the cue changes to the setting you want.
e. Then let go of both keys.

Hope this helps.

Re: Clock on Beolab 3500

I have now tested with a direct ML-cable between the two units.
