I don't think the new version will be more expensive; in Holland the BV9 is 800,- euros cheaper than the BV5 !

The question is why? Most people agree that below 42" full HD as it is called is not a huge advance and the number of pixels can actually make SD broadcasts worse.

The only reason I could think of somone wanting as high a resolution as that on a 42" screen would be so that they could view it at a much closer distance than a lower resolution tv. Meaning it would be ideal as a computer monitor. Lol using a bv7 42" as a monitor would be just a little pricey but would be versatile in that it is a tv anyway. So could be a good option for a bedroom - connect your pc with wireless mouse and keyboard and away you go lol or maybe in the office lmao business expenditure £7000 claim the VAT back and there you go, you now have a bv7 at - 17.5% VAT now you just have to retire / sell up so you can take it home with you, together with the other plasma screens etc you have bought for your office .

Like Peter said, most of the sources are still using the 768 resolution instead 1080; so, for the time being, i'll have a BV7 with 768 and perhaps in a near future, i'll move it to another room and buy a plasma.

The new BV7 version will be much expensive and i must say that the difference doesn't pay off. At least from my point of view.

B&O customer service told me separate BS3 and BV7 can't be connected to each other.

Fair assessment.

I have the BV7-40HD and am happy with it. HD is not integrated, effectively you connect a single DVI cable direct to the panel. Only settings from that point from the raw signal are contrast, colour and brightness. I did not understand this until the BS3 was released. Sound comes through the BV7. There is only 1 DVI connection which is frustrating.

The panel is not as bright and colourful at other HD televisions. The 720/x presentation is not as detailed when compared to a 40inch 1080/x panel with a Strong 5400 STB connected and a high definition signal 1080/x signal is present.

My honest opinion is that the current HD panel would perform a whole lot better if a BS3 and its visual processing was supporting it. I suppose the new direction supports some of that theory. We could have an interesting test if someone has a BS3 and BV7-40 and the other equipment hanging around. I wonder how the BV7-40 panel would perform...

Although you must remember that the HD capabilities of the BeoVision 7 are extremely limited in comparison to the other current BeoVisions.

The update later this year will make it's performance seem like an entirely new machine (which it will be).

I would also think that there will be a price bump if the BV7 is really based on BS3 and can handle full HD. If you can get a good deal I would probably consider the BV7 right now as is. Full HD doesnt make much sense with a 40" screen, however it could be that the improved chassis of the BV7 will add a visible improvement that's why I would move only if I find a reasonable deal.

You're right, but then the next generation is due very soon (within the next 6 months), whereas the one after that won't be due any time soon. If I was going to buy a BV7 now, I'd certainly wait a couple of months to see what happens with the new revision. This isn't a small panel update, it's a complete new chassis! That will make a huge improvement on the picture quality, whether it ships with 1080p or not.

As almost all sources you will receive will be no better than 720p, one questions the rationale. Personally, I would get a plasma as I think they give a better picture

I would imagine not. If being able to display 1080p signals is what you want, then I'd strongly recommend you wait until later this year when a hugely updated BeoVision 7 will be released.

I would like to buy a BeoVision 7 but the following doubt come across my mind; It would be possible in the future to upgrade the tv resolution to a full HD (1.920 x 1.080), from the current resolution HD Ready (1366 x 768 ).
