There should be a red sticker by the positive + terminal. It really is quite important that all the drivers are wired up in phase. Even if both bass/mid drivers are wired the same way round, if this is the opposite to the tweeter, you'll get a horrible great big 'dip' at the crossover point.

Hi i have a set of cx100 s linked up to a non B&O amp and need to know on the speaker lead is the wire with the stripe on + or _ ? as at the amp end its binding posts.

Not much in these speakers! The pin is + and the blade -.

The 'cross over' is also very basic - I attach the diagram which should help you!

If the drivers are originals, don't one of the fasteners on the chassis have a red insulation washer ?
That would be the positivie terminal (orange wire in most CX50's, I believe)

Try it with one speaker first and listen? I'd expect it to sound notably funny with an out-of-phase driver.

Another option might be to try flicking the driver with a small DC voltage (a small 1.5V battery is definitely enough, limit it with a 15 ohm or so series resistor if you want to be extremely safe) and see which way the cone moves. I can't remember offhand if it goes in or out with a correctly phased signal, but maybe you have another speaker element with known polarity you could compare it to.

I suppose you have already tried to google the manufacturer of the drivers, and see whether they have data sheets online?

I may be wrong but I don't think it makes any difference as long as both drivers are wired up the same way and are therefore in phase.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm or tell me to stick to things I know about!

BTW - How much did the drivers cost you?

CX 50 drive units + & - connections

Hi just trying to fit brand new drive units to my CX 50's and there is no marking for what would be the + & - terminals, I bought the speakers with out the drivers as they had died some time ago any ideas?
