The problem is, when the HD module is built in additionally, almost every service department installs a new software. BV7 32"" type 9311 does not have any backlighting. But with new software this option appears automatically and is set to on. If backlight is set to on, sudden dimming happens at some time what is very disturbing when watching TV.

So if you want to solve the problem you must turn the backlighting in the service menue to off! Then BV7 works perfectly.

Press menu+00+GO and find the backlighting in menu and set it to off.

This will help for sure and is the only solution.

Re: BACKLIGHT ON BV7

If the room is small, with no light and white walls, the autocontrast eye can be fooled by the light of the TV :

Bright scene : the electronic eye sees a lit room, so it turns the backlight up to the max (as by increasing the backlight you increase the room light)

Dark scene : the electronic eye sees a dark room, so it lowers the backlight to the min (reverse as previous point)

So, there are different solutions :

a. Try with an ambiant light
b. Try with autocontrast off
c. Try with black walls
d. Try with a larger room

Re: BACKLIGHT ON BV7

avus17:

Hi Peter,

thank you for the answer at the BW forum. My factory setings for BV7 32" type 9311 in the Scaler menu 1 are the same:

brightness 15, colour 23, contrast 50 and scaler contrast 136 as it should be. But I have problems that my TV dimes dark scenes of the films (cable TV) and DVDs very much and the picture gets too dark. This is quite annoying at is happens so quickly (from dark to light and back).

I have contacted Roger who told me that I should try to increase the contrast in the Scaler menu 1 from 50 to 62 but this did not solve the problem. I have also tryed to turn off the film mode but nothing changed. He also told me that the cause could be a defect light sensor. I had my TV for inspection at the B&O service and averything was OK.

Do you have any idea if there were any problems with BV7 32" type 9311 LCD panels? I have calso hecked the menu "Monitor information" and there are two errors listed. Is this normal? As they are listed with numbers and letters I have no idea what this could be. If you have some knowledge about this matter I can communicate the error descriptions.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Vid

I have a similar issue with my BV4/BS3. I always assumed it was the Auto contrast light sensor acting up. In fact I think I disconnected it once ( IR Eye puck ) and it seems that it behaved a little better. Can anyone else confirm that this can be an issue?

Re: BACKLIGHT ON BV7

What I have used...
