Well, once we adjusted the contrast so that it didn't appear that we were watching some bizarre animated cartoon, the PQ was excellent, especially on close up shots with relatively small movement.

Distance shots did show up some digital artefacts which I found uncomfortable compared to the Avant. Or maybe it was the size of the screen which means that your eyes have to move more to take in the view, I'm not sure.

Overall, I'm not sure. He'll be taking it home at the weekend. Will I be sorry to see it go? I don't think so, but that is more to do with it's current temporary position rather than the quality of the set.

What is undeniable is that the value for money is exceptional compared to the equivalent B&O notwithstanding the interconnectability and remote issues.

Oh! Forgot to mention that Spurs- Arsenal was a 1-1 draw but since I'm not a fan of either team, most importantly, my wife had £10 on Spurs to win, so that went out the window!!!

Surely you'd rather pay £7.5K so that you have full link capabilities!

From your comments on other topics, i'm sure you'd disown me if i paid 7k for a BV7-40!

So £660 for a Th42PX70 with a 3 year warranty is a steal.

I'll repeat what you said last night, from your very own mouth,

"I won't watch the panasonic when your not here, cos i'll want one"

Looks like i'll go with the beovox 5000's and lock the door so the bread knife can't see'em

As I'm knowingly stepping into a domestic I'm wearing my tin hat

B&O themsleves used to sell "adapter" leads that included resistor pads within the Din plugs to attenuate normal "speaker out" levels to "line in" levels. These were in order to use things like BM5000 with active speakers.

Its obviously a bit of compromise but I see no reason why you couldn't lash up something similar.

Now then, now then. It's Dad here!

I've seen the TV 'cos he's left the bloody thing in my lounge while he get's permission from his SWMBO to have it in his house!

The set has 2 outputs as far as I can see from the destruction manual and they are both RCA socketed.

Output 1 is for extension passive speakers and the amp in the TV has 10wpc output. So this output is NOT suitable for connection to Lab6000's. It would drive Vox 5000 but would she approve??

Output 2 is 0.5v and is designed for connection to an amplifier. However, as far as I can tell it is NOT volume controlled. So again, is NOT suitable for connection to Lab6000's unless you want them to play at half volume all the time!!

Output 2 would feed the AUX input of the BC2500 and allow the use of 6000's via powerlink but you then have the 2 remote (3 with Sky+)situation which I know that Brett want's to avoid.

Is everybody following me so far???

In case anybody does not know, Brett is my son!!! Yes I know I should dis-own him for buying a Panasonic but his Mum still loves him and she won't let me.

I do have a beocenter 2500 floating about.

Can i connect to the tv via the auxlink and control the volume through the 2500 with the beolink

i assume i just need to butcher an auxlink lead and connect the correct two wires to the tv?

1, If you have phono outputs on the tv, you can hook rca cables straight into the 6000s (separate line jack on us model) and control them with the tv or cable box. You might need to switch them off with a switched outlet.

There are: RCA phono type connectors (L, R) (1 set rear)

All BL6000s have RCA connections I believe...

2. If you use speaker outs, you need a speaker-level output to line-level output converter (inexpensive), and then do as above.

Not difficult and works nicely.
