I am visiting the B&O store in Nottingham tomorrow so I will pick up a pair of drive units for that price. I've been investigating more and it appears the previous owner really didn't look after this system as it should have been, fingers crossed I can fix that.

In regards to the RL 60.2 cross over, the problem I have is that the left panel of the three is producing no sound which is the midrange speaker if I am not mistaken. Thus my assumption that the cross over unit has failed as it takes a lot to make a speaker stop working altogether. I have however not taken those speaker boxes to pieces yet, so it could just be a loose connection. You mention upgrading the components - is there an upgrade part from B&O or are you recommending new / recon units to replace tired ones?

Thank you VERY much for the help :-D

Jon :)

Re: Beocentre 5500 spares

I take it that you mean a Beosystem 5500. The stacking system.

The drive units for the CX is still available from a B&O dealer and is not that expensive. I think they are less than £30.

Martin (Dillen on site) can get you the Beogram belts - I think the 5500 only has one unlike the earlier 4000 and 8000 series of decks. The arm is driven by a motor and a cord.

I would replace the components on the RL cross over - very worth while doing!

Service manuals for some of the items are on site for silver and gold members. The BG5500 is there as is the CX and RL. The Beomaster 5500 is not there but the 6500 is which is very similar.

Beocentre 5500 spares

Hi all, I am new to the forum as I have just purchased a beocentre 5500 and it needs some serious TLC and i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right directs for spares in the UK. The parts I need (that I can tell) are as follows:

Beovox cx 50 speaker drive unit or replacement foam surround

Beogram service spares such as the smaller drive belt for the pickup drive mechanism

RL 60.2 crossover (possibly)

Also, I was wondering where I could get some information servicing

Thanks for reading, I look forward to any advice you may have

Jon :D
