All of the 9000 series had the same transit screw system. In my experience the screws are mostly found in the assigned storage holes.

If you are collecting in person and transporting home on the back seat of the car then there is generally no need to put the screws in the transit position.

If the unit is travelling in the courier system then it is vital that the screws are fitted in the transit positions. Important with all varients but even more so with the 9300 as the cd drive doesn't just float, it is almost loose inside the box!

Actually the 9300 has 4 holes for 2 screws. 2 Holes can be used to hold the CD mechanism down and the other 2 holes can be used to store the screws when you don´t want to hold the CD mechanism (this is where I expect the screws to be)

I have a 9300; when it came there were two small screws on the bottom that go up into the CD transport and hold it down (normally it floats a bit). I would imagine the 9500 had this also. There was a warning label reminding the purchaser to remove them, so check on that. I would imagine the seller has long lost the screws but a dealer might be able to tell you what size they were (M4?).

Courier delivery, even in the official B&O box and packaging, is not 100% successful. The glass panels have been known to break and I have had one of the sliding doors jump out of the track in transit. Having said that, I must have couriered 30-40 units by now with at least 80% success even for those travelling abroad.

My recomendation however, is always to collect in person if practical. You can judge the overall condition of the unit and thoroughly test before parting with the cash and give it a gentle ride home on the back seat of your car.

Hi:

Thanks for the advice. Is this machine particularly fragile? I have been looking at recent forum posts and it would seem that door mechs and other things are easily breakable thus is it best that I collect an item such as this in person or would post be OK providing it is packed properly?

Well I would say about £500-£600. Based on what they fetch on Ebay.

Graham, you can connect either of these to your Avant. You will need a Beolink conveter as the Avant used Masterlink and the Beocenter will use Datalink. You do know that both the Beocenter 9500 & 9300 both have built in Amplifiers. So you can use any Passive speakers you want to with them.

A while ago I asked the opinion of some forum members with regard to getting some b&o audio equipment on a budget. THe options and parameters were an Overture type system or one of the above. I have half opted for the above because I think these look more timeless thn the Overture - epsecially the ones with the tape in them.

However, before I purchase this can anyone state with some autrhority whether or not I could wire either of these systems to my Avant and use the Avant's speakers whilst waiting until I can afford some dedicated b&os?
