It is often the case since USD depreciation started a couple of years ago. In Europe items (not only B&O) tend to be more expensive than in the US. Suppose that Europe has to pay the reduced margin of US business given fierce competition over there. Another good example is for cars. I personally think it is a shame and I do not at all like being screwed that way.

i was in the bang and olufsen store in new york in june, price of the beovision 9 was 20,000 dollars a lot cheaper than uk

For an interesting article on Abt Electronics and Bang and Olufsen, go to ddimagazine.com, click on advanced search and set date range to include 10/01/07 and search for Olufsen. An article entitled Electronics Superstore will be found.

ABT Electronics is indeed a terrific store. I have purchased several B&O items there as well as TVs and a camcorder. The store is huge with an extraordinary selection and very good service. The store is located in the suburbs northwest of Chicago. An extra piece of information that probably nobody wants to know is that Abt is the name of the family that owns the store.

It is most definetly a real store. I have purchased a B and O cabinet, Beolab 4000s, Bolab 9s, and a Serene there, as well as other products that are not B and O. It is a huge store whith every imaginable type of appliances or electronics, kitchen items, and more.

Part of the store is somewhat of a mini-mall with smaller boutique stores such as Apple and B and O within the larger store.

Check out the rest of their web page, especially the virtual tour section to get an idea of the store's size.
