It is over 16 years old now and and the mirror button panel is in very good condition. It has only one very tiny scratch, but that's only visible if you look for it really hard. Most people don't even notice it. The fingerprints are somewhat visible, but even this isn't too bad compared to the fingerprints on the glass panel of a BC 9300.

Re: Beosound 3000 with small clamper

I always preferred it with the mirrored button panel too, but I suppose they got rid of this because of finger prints and scratches...

Re: Beosound 3000 with small clamper

Yes, I think too, watching the CD spinning in the air was the principal magical feature of the Ouverture/BS2500/2300, with the automatic sliding doors.

Guy

Re: Beosound 3000 with small clamper

I prefer the small clamper to be honest. In 2000, I went to my B&O repair center, called CRTV in Paris and bought the whole CD clamper section including the mecanism, as a spare part. It's still in my home in case if my old BS Ouverture (9 years old) needs a new one.

IMHO, I really prefer the old version as this one shows the CD moving in "the air". This visual effect brings its part of magic that characterizes many of B&O products.

Cheers,

Guy

Re: Beosound 3000 with small clamper

If I recall correctly, another member stated that the change in clamper size was to prevent children sticking their fingers in to stop the CD from spinning. There might have been another comment that it was to prevent people becoming spastic from watching the spinning CD.

Re: Beosound 3000 with small clamper

Towards the end of the 90s. In fact the BeoCenter 2300 which I owned for several years stopped around 1999/2000. There was a BeoSystem 2500 as well which was earlier. I prefer the earlier models for this very reason. I traded my 2300 in against a new 9000 recently and the shop sold it on the same day! Obviously still very sought after. Someone did tell me the reason they changed the size but I can't remember, was it something to do with dust maybe? Can't remember, anyway a great piece of kit those music systems.
