Hi Graham,

The TV you are enquiring about is called Beovision 1 or Becenter 1 (depending on the model). The first of the BeoVision 1 TV's is unable to be linked but later versions can be used. You want a BeoVision 1 LS (link slave).

The advantages are as described above. Total access to your main system from another room and in the case of the Beovision 1's they have great speakers in them and will serve you well with playing audio through them.

I know it's only my opinion but i think the BV1 series of Televisions is still the most beautiful TV B&O made.

Ah. I'm so envious of those of you in Europe. We Yanks across the pond only have audio link and not video link with our B&O video products. However, I've heard that the BV7 and newer version of the U.S. Beosystem 3 have incorporated video link. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes it is a great system, especially when I can put a DVD in the Avant and watch it in the bedroom while the wife watches "What Not To Wear" on the sat channel downstairs.

Also the kids can watch what they want in the family room and have control of the Beo4, which they love.

Has the big advantage that you can access all the sources on the master set on the link set. Think DVD, VCR, Satellite as well as any audio sources. All can be controlled from the link room. I have Sky+ attached to my main set but can access this on my link set so can watch either live satellite or recorded programmes in my bedroom. Brilliant system!

Most of the later and certainly the latest B&O TV's are capable of being linked to other B&O media. There are too many different options to list in one reply. They allow the playing of music etc.... through the speakers connected to your TV.

EG:- you may decide on some (quite costly) beolab active speakers as part of a surround sound system and this allows connecting of a music system to utilise the same speakers or even the speakers in the TV itself. This is only one of various options you have.

Hi:

Please do not think that I am being facetious by asking this question, it is simply because I do not understand the concept. I have an Avant in my front room. I think I made the right choice when considering buying a new TV - I was going to buy a Pioneer plasma for about £1500 but was advised (I feel correctly) that a B&O CRT would out perform one of these. It does and the case looks much better.

My original plan was to get a Beovision 3 and then move the avant into my bedroom, but on reflection I don't really like the case/stand desig - it looks too minimalistic or space age if the two mean the same - I hate the fact that every house looks like an Ikea catologue these days.

I digress, the point is that even if I did do this the Avant would probably be too big for my room and thus inpractical so I hit upon the idea of getting one of those CRT link TVs (the one with the triangular shaped speaker at the bottom) I do not know the model name. However, what is the point of masterlinking these - is it so that you can share one ariel connection and one cable connection and this use the Avant (in computing terms) as a kind of server and the link TV as like a dumb terminal.

Also technically is there much difference between the Beovision 3 & Avant?
