I'm definitely looking at all the bundled packages available. This iinet one looked good as don't have to pay line rental as well but on negative side can't get digital TV with it or use the phone line for house alarm etc. will keep investigating but am at least confident that if I go down VOIP route that the beocoms will work.

thanks again

Dylan

Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

Good, very valid point made above about checking everything out first.

I'm not familiar with the VOIP options available to you in OZ, but I would also look at the financial strength of the company. There is a lot of competition, some aggressive with the landline companies losing market share to the VOIP carriers. The service we had then derided the VOIP concept and quality, which a few years later they were forced to embrace. Today they are now marketing VOIP themselves with discounts and other offers to return to the fold. ( Once gouged, never back )

For our family it was a no contest decision: We now pay 1/10 of what we paid in the past for monthly service, which did not include dedicated FAX service on a separate line, conference calling, overseas charges, and e-mail phone messages. The sound quality is very good, but then again they are B&O phones.

Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

Others are IPrimus, Engin and the list goes on....

Don't jump the gun. You may want FoxtelIQ and if you combine with ADSL, cable or mobiles you get discounts, free local call's one bill and its simpler. Some of the guys in the office spend more money on skype, and VOIP than I do on POT's lines... It boils down to your own calling needs..

I also think that Private Number gets displayed alot on BC6000's when using voip connections...

My thoughts.

Beoaus.

Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

I have used BC6000 for over 2 years with voice over IP - all features like caller ID etc work perfectly.
Now I have BC1 and no problems either.

Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

Dylan;

Yes, quite positive. It was one of the original 220v models sold in Germany before the introduction of the DECT units. It is in perfect condition despite usage, along with the tablee charger. Most are all DECT models today.

Caller ID does work, along with the original features. It would have been nice were it a speaker phone, but it does serve to control the TV and Audio volume as it was intended. This was the prime reason to purchase the B&O telephones. We have 5, all using the original installed phone jacks in the house.

It might be wise to check with your provider in OZ first, before you pruchase.

Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

SWISS 2:

G'Day Dylan;

It will work.

I have used a European (DE) 6000, non-DECT model with Vonage VOIP service in North America, and it works fine.

Are you sure it's a non-DECT model? I'm currently looking at broadband/phones/tv packages (making my head spin) and am wandering if anyone has any experience of connecting beocoms to a VOIP setup? I'm looking at this package which seems to imply that using one of these I can connect any old phone and everything will be fine. Anyone tried it?

Dylan
