I am currently having my DVD mechanism repaired for the second time. When the first repair was performed the engineer inadvertently removed the multi region chip that I had paid &amp;pound;150 for. So I guess my DVD 1 has cost me &amp;pound;800 (Purchase) + &amp;pound;150 (Multi-region chip) + &amp;pound;400 (two mechanisms) = &amp;pound;1350! Don&amp;#39;t get me started on BeoMedia 1. Very frustrating! In my experience DVD 1&amp;#39;s have always been unreliable. I had a &amp;pound;120 Sony player that was bullet proof &amp;ndash; even down to playing my kids scratched discs satisfactorily.
