I have some information about the curved / linear track issue. I am not sure if this is true or not, so any Beoworlder feel free to confirm or correct.

On a curved laser track the laser is located / moved by an electromagnetic field. As far as I know this laser unit was sourced from Philips.

The linear track laser uses an electronic motor in stead of the magnetic field. It's supposed to be less stable. I believe it's of Japanese origin.

The original curved laser unit in my BS2300 was replaced by a straight track laser last year. I have the impression that the CD-player mechanism is less noisy than before. It works perfectly and the sound quality hasn't changed.

Oh i thought so! Just thought it would be cool if a mcp did work because there is one on ebay dirt cheap.

I may just go with an Ouverture (even though it has an ugly tape deck they are easier to find and sometimes cheaper), can anyone tell me what is the difference in the curved laser trck and linear track?

What are the differences between these models? Thanks! :D

I'll tell you my extremely cool idea, i am going to link an Ouverture with a PL cable to a red Beosound 1 on a floorstand at the other side of the room. This way i can enjoy the supermarket doors, classic beauty and functionality of the Ouverture (and AM RADIO!) whilst also having the sound, portability and design of the BS1. The Beosound 2 will be plugged into the Aux in of the Ouverture. Genius.

I had been told that this was impossible - but Ulf did manage. However I would suggest that this was partly to prove it could be done! For us poor mortals, give it a wide berth - BC2500s are pretty cheap now so why add complication!

Ulf Kiener managed to get this working, but it is a lot of work and technical knowledge necessary.

Might be better to get a BC2300/BC2500/Ouverture...

Is there a possiibility that this will work with a BV3 through master link?? I see one really cheap on ebay in sort of ok condition, and was wondering if anybody can find this out for me??

I remember someone getting it to work with their avant! :)
