I agree with Jon. With my Beocenter 2500 and BL 7000, the remote would show details such as the source, track number and IIRC the volume level playing on the 2500 -- I am at present, literally, half a world away from my B&O so I can't check the details for you.

Like Jon, I, too, am selling my Beocenter 2500.

The RDS feature only works with the 7000 system as far as I am aware. The 9500 doesn't have RDS. Not the most useful feature anyway as the name only appears on the blue screen and is very small!

I think there is some problem with the last sentence ;)

I think it's correct this way:

"The two way communication does work with a 2300/2500 except the RDS radio station name"

I'am so happy, because, I can answer this question very correctly, because from this week I'am also a happy owner of a BC2300 also (yes, yes, yes! :) ), and it is working just perfect with the BL7000 in two way mode, just my "old" BC2500.

I do not know the exact time, when the 2300/2500 lost the two way compatibility, but the first ones surely does two way.

There are some minor thing which are not working, just like the "random" button of the BC2300, but the only not working thing is the RDS station name process, which working with the 7000/9000/9500 system if I know well.

I can confirm that the BEOLINK 7000 is two-way and works with the BEOCENTER 2500 as I have both and both are two-way and work perfectly together, I am selling both if anyone is interested

It would work Ok and the language used is English. Just doesn't work very well! Slow with one way and it is quite fragile. Problems include batteries reaching the end of their life, scratches, IR transmitters failing with age (old capacitors) and screens becoming dark. Having said all that, mine is one of the first (I bought it new when it came out) and works perfectly! If you decide to get one, make sure it is a good one as repairing them is not for the faint hearted.

Two way means that the TV or stereo is sending (and receiving) ir commands/info. On the remote you can see volume level, radio info etc. B&O had this in the late 80´s and early 90´s.

You have a Beo4. The Beolink 7000 is not available new - they were over £600. A second hand one will cost about £350. The batteries are rechargeable so don't need replacing unless old - just done mine.

Hi:

To be honest, the only real reasons that I want it are to turn on my radio and TV. I know that it eats batteries and I know that it will not be used to its full potential with my current (or future) setup. However, the fact that it looks so good and moves up and down, looking like it does more than it actually does is my main reason for getting one. I was not looking for one new. I probably would not use it that much once the novelty has worn off - I mean I already have the proper remote for this system (can't remember its name - the long thin aluminium one with the LCD screen at the top.

In my view, a large part of the beauty is function as well as form. The fact that the blue screen would be unchanging to all intents and the top display unresponsive would mean that a large part of the 'beauty ' would be missing. I think if I were a student and just starting my collection like the OP, I would leave it.

that's not entirely true I think - I did come across a 2500 that was two-way years ago ....
