I had heard it was to prevent kids from sticking their fingers in, stopping the CD and breaking the mechanism.

Not at all; you have both. The AUX connector is a DIN plug with lines both in and out. With a small adapter cable from DIN to 4 x RCA I am able to digitze some dear old cassettes with B&O Ouverture quality, incredibly good, actually. Also radio programs can be directed to the computer this way.

Do they both have an Aux-In so I can plug in a minidisk deck?

Actually, the AUX is both In and Out, at least on the Ouverture.

Same as i heard..
I'd like to have seen you staring at the clamper, frantically switching the lights on and off. You could possibly sue B&O for chronic arm-ache you know!

if only id fitted those lc2s, i could have done it all by remote, im quicker with my fingers thanks to nintendo

yes that does sound plausable, i think it changed first on the beosound 3000 around the time of it being N-music compatible, so that does make sence, the other story did make me smile though

We have similar (and might I add, stylish) taste Simon. The larger clamper models on the BeoSound 3000 and 3200 do not look as good as the smaller aluminium clamper on the Ouverture and 2300. I love seeing the disc spinning, especially if the CD has a splash of colour on it.

I personally think B&O created the larger clamper for the BeoSound 3200 solely because music can be played via its hard drive and B&O might not want to give it away with a non-spinning CD. I have rephrased this sentence 5 times and still doesn't make sense. Just a personal thought really, but I can't really believe the epileptic or halusination stories!

It is! I recently sold mine but I am now wondering if that was a mistake! I loved it. I thought I wouldn't need it because of my upgrade to the BeoSound 9000 but I miss it terribly! Good old B&O creating all these lovely products that I really can't bear it when I sell one! I can't comment on the replacement laser because I honestly don't know. I am sure it is correct information if that is what the dealers say. However, I would assume that a laser is a laser and doesn't really change much unless its red or blue! In what way could a BS3000 be more up to date than its predecessor (in terms of the laser) when it is still using a red light to read CDs? I can only say that I had years of joy with my BS2300. Yes, if you look hard enough you can find two-way 2300's that have the newer, linear CD mechanism. Best of both worlds!

Exactly what I have right now. Works very well!
