An update on the LS2s.

I had a go at installing them over the festive season and once I'd read the manual I felt confident trying.

Got all 3 to work and programmed as 1-3 in the same room. Works brilliantly via the Beo4.

Also got hold of some cable trunking and cleared up the mess that was cables etc left over from the cowboy install.

Mother now very pleased

Hi Bebs,

Sorry to hear about the terrible job this guy has done at your mother's house. Are you able to get a B&O dealership to go over and start over? I know it is an additional cost and the prinicple remains that it should have been done correctly first time round but at the end of the day, B&O equipment looks so much better when it is set up correctly with cables hidden where possible and all equipment linked correctly. Anyway, I do wish you all the best with that.

On the matter of the LC2 well I have just ordered one for myself and this product is completely new to me too. My understanding is that it is best to get a qualified electrician to install the device as it involves cutting the cable and fixing the LC2 then reconnecting. The LC2 will provide dimming functionaility through the Beo remotes. I assume that the manual explains how to program them. There will be a wealth of information available through experienced users on this site if we run into any problems I am sure.

Best of luck with everything and try not to be too disheartened or resentful over what has happened. There are a lot of cowboys out there and I have had my fair share of problems with tradesmen over the years too. I believe that what goes around comes around though. Just write it off as a bad experience and don't let it get in the way of you having a special Christmas with your Mum and your family.

It wasn't - it was a guy that specialises in ex demo and used B&O. Thing is - he came over as knowledgable and as if he spent most of his time installling stuff. Obviously not..

Well if all cables are hidden and the link rooms is not next to living room , I don't think 22h is over the top.

Both link rooms are adjacent to living room. (2 x 10 meter link cable used) NO cables are hidden, not even in trunking. Link Lab3500 not even working as they couldn't hook up the junction box properly. To be honest its a disgrace. Cables behind Avant is one big mess sticking out all over the place. and, having surveyed the job before hand they couldn't even be bothered to use white link cable and just used black, blue tacking the cables along skirting boards etc. Amateurs.

Greetings all,

My mother recently had her new flat rigged up with B&O. Living room/bedroom/kitchen.

I bought her 4 x LS2s in place of a rubbish remote light system she had previously.

Unfortunately it turned out the boys installing the system were cowboys and charged her 22 hours labour to hook up a pair of Lab6000s to an Avant and a BS2 + link to bedroom TV + link to Kitchen lab3500. 22 hours!! I wasn't there as she lives in Denmark and I'm in London so they they just saw an elderly women and ripped her off.. Grrrrrr. I was livid.

Anyway, the point is I obviously don't want them to fit 4 x LS2s now and charge her the world. In fact, they did say to her they didn't even know how those LS2s work :banghead:

I'm going back home for christmas and would really like to install them for her - if I can. Trouble is, I have no idea how they work either.

Basically her lamps are up and working. How do I do it? I understand the LS2 sit somewhere along the actual eletrical wire? or do I screw it onto a wall/surface and run wire from outlet to LS2 to lamp itself?

There are 4 of them in the same living room. Once hooked up, how do I program them 1-4 with the beo4?

I would be very grateful if anyone could run me through the entire process so I can print it out and have an attempt over the festive season.

My poor old mother was so upset about the whole thing and just payed up when the guys demanded payment on the spot for the 22 hours they'd been there.. god knows what they had been doing for all that time.
