Sky seem to have different deals at different times in different areas. Try ringing your local Sky shop and see whats on offer.
I can assureyou that once you have Sky+, you'll wonder how you managed without it!
You won't be able to install it yourself, it needs a dish with two LNBs and two cables as opposed to the one you have which has only one of each.
All those people in THIS picture are clapping me!

Sky + @ 21 on the list, although i did go about it slightly differently to how you said.

Menu - set up - connections - stb - list of stb's- sky + number 21 !

What's the deal in sky + at £49 ?

Is that the price just for the box?

Dou you just collect and install yourself?

Or do they deliver?

Peter.............are you telling me mine is quite an old Avant?

It is in titanium , which i was lead to believe was one of the later models...........is there anything else you can tell me about it?

Ps Andy T................would i be right in thinking you accidently won my white BS 7000? ............lol

You will probably need the upgrade. There are a few more functions as you can now record but these are quite straightforward. Works well in link rooms too!

Hi Fil
It's nothing to do with the remote, it's done with the Avant.
You obviously already have a set top box controller working your present Sky box.
Try this
Menu (twice if sky menu comes up on first press), 4, 5 then use the side arrow to highlight your set top box press go.
There should now be a big list of STBs with your one in red. Scroll up or down to see if you can find Pace Sky+. (Number 36 on mine)
If it's there, you won't need an upgrade. Don't click Go on it 'til you get your +box, just press exit.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Is it right that i might have to get a software update for the TV to operate sky + via Beo 4? And i assume it would just be a case of unplugging the sky i have now and replacing it with sky +.....................just like that as Tommy Cooper would say!

And does the Beo 4 operate just the same?

Would agree with this. The Sky+ box works brilliantly with the Avant. Seamlessly even!

Better still,Fil. Get a Sky+ box. They have an offer on at the moment for just £49.
I know that you can transfer recordings from the Sky+ box to a DVD recorder so assume you could send them to you V8000 too.

You go in to TEXT TV, go to the page that shows whats on today press menu and you get a marker. set the marker on the movie you want to record. And press GO then you trues haw many movies you want to record and GO. now you can edit Start and stop time and date and you have to tell the what program number it's on the STB, this is the easy way to do it

I have sussed the 1st method you described (thanks), but can't really suss out the second.....if you could elaborate i would be very grateful.

Yes i have STB controller and the mk 3 Beo4.

If your SKY is controlled by a STB controller, then in manually record, set it to STB and what channel or via Text on the SKY and press Menu.

Hi everyone.

I have an Avant linked to a V8000 and then to the basic sky box.

Can anyone please tell me how (if possible) to set the recorder to tape something off sky?

I look forward to your replies and hopefully wont miss my programme as i'm off out later.
