My MX5500 is with him at the moment. His name on the forum is Nobby. Try dropping him a PM and I am sure he may be able to help you out.

Craig

Re: What to do!

Hi Criag,

I am in London.

Re: What to do!

If I remember correctly the BL3000 has an RCA input (line input). Your BG4500 is a CD player only, you will need a Beomaster to control it.

Re: What to do!

Hi Matzuber, welcome to Beoworld. If I were you I would look on Ebay for either another MX3500. CRT TV's go for next to nothing these days. Or look for a Beomaster 4500. This is the matching Amp to your Beogram 4500 CD. This would solve all of your problems. You can connect the Speakers to it and of course the CD. You can also connect your ipod to it aswell. Just don't sell it all. BTW Where are you located?

Craig

What to do!

Hi, I am new to the forums. I am after some advice.

My boss is upgrading his setup and has given me his old B&O setup, including:

Beovision MX3500 21 inch TV

Beogram 4500 CD player

Beolink 1000 remote control

Master Control Link 2

Beolab 3000 active speakers

Powerlink cables

Now I have a problem. The TV is broken (this is why it was given to me) so I have no way of controlling any of the components. As far as I can see this is the only item in the setup that has an infrared receiver. Is this correct i.e. will this setup only work if it has a working beovision or beomaster (with infrared receiver)?

I am really only interested in the speakers but I can't control them without the remote control working. I bought a minijack to powerlink cable to play my ipod through the speakers but they are currently set to CD so I can't even switch it over to Aux! I then tried a minijack to 2xphono cable into the speakers but still nothing (as they have a phono connector at the back). This is very frustrating. The only thing in the whole setup that works is the CD player, however the volume is so low that I can bearly hear it - again, I can't adjust the volume without the remote control working.

So I am trying to decide between fixing the TV so I can have access to the setup or just selling the lot and buying a some new speakers.

Any advice?

If I go with fixing it, are there any reputable B&O service centres in London that won't cost the earth? If I decide to sell it, should I sell it as a complete setup or as individual items?

Thanks for your help,

Matzuber
