A good friend of mine has one of those Bose systems in the living room. It sounds not bad, but imo, it is only acceptable for background music. If you want to seriously listen to music, the Bose system won't do it. I would choose a BS1 in your case, as it is easy to use, very handy and stylish.

My brother in law has one of the BOSE systems mentioned and it is very good at doing what it was designed for. I agree with previous post though - the BS1 is better in terms of build quality & materials used. The design is also on a different level in my opinion but I know there are people out there who would disagree with this.

Completely in agreement with previous posts. I'd favour B&O. Better sound, better materials and style! Bose has never really impressed me so far.

Why I have not seen one of the Bose Waveguide systems in the flesh, I have seen some of their Lifestyle range. As there used to be a Bose dealer close to where I work. To be honest I was not impressed, they seem to be very cheap looking. Maybe due to the fact they are all Plastic on the outside. maybe I am a bit biased but they are no comparison to B&O IMO.

It's Bose . The BeoSound 1 or the Overture will outperform it.

I've heard the Bose Wave systems (the all-in-ones), and while they seem okay on the face of it, once you actually really listen to what it's doing, you'll realise they've cheated! The left hand speaker is reproducing all the bass and the right hand one is reproducing all the treble, meaning some music (such as The Beatle's recordings) will either end up with very muffled sounding vocals and really tinny bass or the opposite. Not very clever!

The Bose is more of a competitor for the Beosound 1 in that it is a self contained system. Materials used are a fair bit cheaper and the remote supplied is also very cheap compared to the Beo4. Sound quality is really in the ear of the listener but I doubt Bose will say that they outperform the Beosound 1. The sound is however perfectly acceptable in my view.

The Ouverture on the other hand can be the centre of a through house system and can be used with serious Hi-Fi speakers. Not a very fair comparison. Both have their place though and I would not rubbish the Bose system although it would not fit my needs.

I am aware that I may have spelt both of those wrongly. My mother-in-law has seen one of those Bosse systems (the small ones that sit on a shelf which the manufacturers claim to fill the room with sound. As a new adopter to all things B&O I would tell her to spend her money on a B&O system. However I have never used a Bosse so it would be hardly fair for me to say that. Thus apart from stylisticly (the B&O looks miles better) what is best for sound etc. Pros/cons
