2) just one cable between monitor and Beosystem 3 (the BV7 own can understand me...);
3) 50', of course
But, BV 4:
1) have no DVD player and I dont' like DVD2. Is it the PUC system the key for choosing a good match? Do you know which Marantz or Denon DVD player are on the list?
2) could have some typical plasma problem (the dealer said: no problem, absolutly, never, etc. etc.).

If you are looking for a truly cinematic experience there is only one route- plasma. Lcd has improved a lot and when showing an HD source they are ok but show all the traditional LCD traits- which B&O have not resolved- they cant reinvent the rulebook.

the BV4/9 offers perfect colour rendition at all times- perfect skintones, a depth of picture that LCD cannot match- if you have the money its no contest get the bv4!!

Another question is that current Full HD systems (both LCD and Plasma) are not very competent when they are dealing with standard DVB signal. That is why I have not upgraded my HD Ready system to a Full HD one. If you have HD sources this issue is obsolete.

I would have to disagree.

I found the PQ of Freeview (DVB-T) on the BV9 to be excellent.

As for non B & O Plasma TVs,Freeview PQ on the Pioneer LX608 is,considering the 60" screen size,a revelation.

I have just bought the new BeoVision 7-40 Mark III which has a full HD 1080p up to date LCD panel, an unsurpassed upscaling DVD player and a BeoSystem 3 built in. Please read a review of this new television here.

This television is arguably one of the best out there at this time and I believe it is worth purchasing. It is as future proof as a TV can be at this time and I am satisfied I will be able to use it for the next 5-7 years at least, if not a lot longer before needing (or wanting) to change it again.

Personally, I love all the television sets in the B&O range. I considered each of them myself, even the BeoVision 9 although it was the price that put me off that primarily because I think it will drop quite quickly as the BeoVision 5 did so I wanted to make a better investment. The BeoVision 4-50 is a great screen but as has been stated above you need to get all the other bits to go with it and that's what put me off that set. You do need a big living area to house a 50 inch screen too. As for the plasma over LCD debate well I was always an avid fan of plasma and thought it was miles better than LCD but I have been so impressed with the BeoVisino 7-40, especially wth digital and HD signals that I now can't say that one is better than the other.

It might help you to know that I really didn't like the BeoVision 7-40 when I first saw it (the Mark I several years ago) but now it has grown on me so much and I absolutly love it. It took a lot of convincing from the dealer I bought it from because I really had my heart set on the BeoVision 5 (which I will always love as a television) but I am honestly glad I listened to their advice and experience. I have no doubts at all now that I made the right decision and I love the 7-40 more and more every time I switch it on. It is a great TV and as a concluding comment I would say that it is by far the best TV in the range in terms of value for money. You get a lot for your buck.

Do read the review and note the comments at the end, ..."before today, we have given only two 5 Star ratings, which we reserve for truly outstanding accomplishment."

If you are not in a rush to buy then you could wait until next year for the new BeoVision 10, which is effectively a 4-50 screen with an AV9000 speaker (triangular shape) under it. That would be a great choice too I am sure and one I would have definitly considered if I could have waited until then.

Basically you should be struggling with the (still) ongoing debate between LCD and Plasma. Having both in the household my personal preference for movies and sports is for plasma. LCD is having more problems with movement and some colours than plasma.

Aesthetics and integrated DVD speak for BV7 (w BL 7.4) but that is not all.

If and when your are looking after a big screen your obvious choice is plasma (IMHO).

only thing with bv9 is your paying for a hdr2 which most people never use plus you got to find somewhere to put dvd player and sky box unless you put it on a bracket on the back and wouldn't be suprised if B&o release a dvd blue ray/ hd module upgrade eventually.

I don't consider the BV9 because I need a wall mounted TV.

Cables and IR: no problem with beosystem 3, much more difficult to handle with BV7 back panel !

Anyway, just seen BV 7 40 HD in action and I've to admit the DVD performance is wonderful (in a quite enlightened room). In comparison with it, the BV4 picture (in in the same room) seemed quite dull (it was a BV4-50 HD ready, with a beosystem 2).

The only limit seems to be that BV7 40 isn't big enough.

Another thing: BV4-50 and Beolab 7.2 (wall mounted) is simply a ugly thing, but the dealer told me that next year will be the new centre speaker (9000 style...).

I don't know if this is a bad point. If one of the new formats (HDDVD- Blue Ray) is going to take over, than you will be happy about that. If the price is no problem, I think the BV4 is the better option.

Why don't you consider the BV9 too?

With Beovision 4 -50 you'll need a dvi cable connecting them as well as a Rs232 which is used for switching the screen on.

plus you would have to find a place to put the beosystem3. plus you will need to mount a 70mm circular ir eye somewhere.

As for the Bv7-40 same chassis, dvd player built in, more options for mounting i.e motorized wall bracket, close wall bracket or floor standing.

BV7-40" MK III is also based on BS3.

I own the new BV7-40" (for 2,5 weeks now) and like the picturequality. 40" is more than enough in my livingroom. Also very like the turnable stand.
