The repairman says he replaced the "2 C 14" capacitor (10uF 16V) and now it's hopefully fixed. I haven't tried it myself yet but the repairman is very competent so I'm quite confident it's fixed.

I hope this will be of some value to you!

Re: Beomaster 6000

Is it a silly question or do you just need to reset the stored volume level?

Re: Beomaster 6000

I have the same problem with my Beomaster 5500 (almost scared my wife to death!!!). For a while I started the Beosystem by pressing Tape (with no cassette in the player), which gave me time to lower the volume manually. However I got tired of that and handed it in for reparation, but my ordinary contact couldn´t fix it so I will try another service shop. I will let you know the outcome. Regards Lennart.

Re: Beomaster 6000

I have thoroughly checked and cleaned the remote control handsets so hopefully ruled them out. They are all clean and dry. The IR reciever has recently become troublesome in that sometimes it will not accept a command so there is some sort of problem with it. The other possible causes relating to the volume control and control panel suggested by Martin and yourself will hopefully be sorted as the amp has now been sent to B&O in Gloucester. I have also sent the MCL 82 to be checked.

It is indeed a very nice amp. I am using a beautiful BC9500 in its place for the time being - rather like going from a V8 to a 4 cylinder when it comes to the sound it makes! I will let you know the outcome.

Regards

There was a new volume control indicator light fitted but I am not aware of any fault with the motor or potentiometer if anything the motor is a bit lazy. It could well be the processor. Are these still available? The amp is disconnected at the moment. If I re-connect it may do this again - not good if it's 3am! I will test it and see what happens. I need a specialist with access to parts for the 6000 to give it a thorough service. My B&O dealer really is not interested in seeing it any more.

Re: Beomaster 6000

The processor could be running out of control. I suppose you already tried to reset it. The S120 speakers' overload circuits tripped but other speakers are connected via a switching unit - possibly damadged. Does anyone have any experience of this type of thing with the 6000? I am having trouble with the remote module which does not always accept commands but this switching on has never happened before. The preset volume is at minimum - why would it fire up at full volume? A "minimum repair" due to overheating which involved cleaning the speaker sockets took place in July. Since then the amp seems to have much more power.
