Honestly - it's a minefield. You always get people that really don't understand how this works and can be very disillusioned when they don't achieve "what the guide says". 'Average' to you can be 'Mint' to another person - everyone sees things differently - some rather astonishingly so!! We also have age to take into consideration. There are also fluctuations in prices (monthly sometimes) which would put the valuations out - and supply is always a factor. Lots of products on ebay drives prices down - but if yours is the only one it can make double what the last one did on occasion.

I'm happy to answer any used product questions, and will happily email back members with requests for current and accurate valuations. I do it every day at LifeStyle. Graham will have a good idea too, as will pretty much any of the mod team!

However, if we all feel there is a pressing need for this on site - i will do a guide - but it will need constant, and i do mean constant updating.

But quite fun! I would suggest a price based on what you can expect to pay on eBay - with a margin. For instance a Beolink 7000 seems to go for about £300-350 these days. One would expect a few small marks and it may well need a new battery - had mine replaced - cost about £5!! I think a guide and maybe a list of things to look for. Perhaps we can add this to the description on site.

Maybe something akin to Glass' guide for car prices (make Lee feel at home)

Obviously selling/buying with a dealer or re-seller will command different prices than a private transaction. There is also a question of warranty etc.

What do we think about a group of experts convening to produce a list of second hand values for commonly sold items. Clearly this would only be a guide but it might be helpful. We could band the values in categories - Boxed, Mint, Good, Fir and car boot!

Any volunteers to help? I would suggest setting up a file somewhere first and building up a database and then putting it on site.
