Any reason why we couldn't use a Beomaster 4400 and a single pair of speakers. Use one type of cable from Speaker one and another from Speaker two. The output is identical and the speaker output selected by depressing one of two keys. Would be easy to be made a blind test.

Are you sure we shouldn't make it more complicated??

Soundproof, check your email for the contact details of the guy in UK that can help you with custom Powerlink (8-pin) cables.

PS. RCA was only mentioned as an option in case the speakers allow that as an input (as the old BL6000 series). DIN to DIN (using Naim connectors) would be preferable as long as you have LINE inputs on the speakers (that way you can remove the unnecessary wiring which are meant to power up / down your speakers when you change settings or shut down your unit etc.).

Only kidding mate, I am glad you have reverted back to the original question of this forum. Yes, you can custom make the 8-pin Powerlink cables using studio grade Van Damme OFC multicore pro cables. I guy in UK made them for me at a relatively low cost (GBP 50 for a 2m pair) - I will have to look up his details if you are interested. These cables widen the sound (specifically the low end) compared to the PowerLink MKIII most noticeably. The other alternative you have which will give you far greater options (which is what I have pursued) is to use the Line input on your speakers (if they have one - such as BL3, BL6, BL9 etc) and use DIN / RCA cables instead. I have custom made mines for the BL9 pair using Furutech alpha silver reference (2-pin DIN to 2-pin DIN only) cables hooked them up to my BV9 and got some amazing results (noticeable even when I'm awake :o)

As I'm always trying out stuff, I'd like to try these custom made Powerlink cables. I'd appreciate getting the contact info for the person who made them for you.

Personally, I've found that my method works the best.

Go to a lot of heavy metal concerts until your hearing is so bad that you just can't tell the difference anymore between minor differences. It'll save you money! =)

edit: joking aside, why would going DIN-RCA and then plugging into the line in on a BL speaker be better than just going DIN-DIN? I'm having a hard time coming up with a decent reason for that...

Where did you buy the Din connectors? Here in Sweden the salesmen in HiFi stores laugh if you ask them about Din cables! Because it´s an old technology ...

They can't know about Naim, then, which is surprising.

Go hunting at Flashback. They have lots of plugs for self-assembly, as well as finished plugs of most any kind you'd wish for.

Click the 7 pin DIN plug connectors link down the page, nr 13.

Sound´s great! Do you got any pics on your 2pin Din Furutech alpha cable?? And how much would it cost for you to make two cables 2m each and ship to Stockholm/Sweden? =)

But everyone most agree with the fact that a standard vs upper standard cable can sound different ? I used to plug in one new high grade cable in the left RCA output connector and the standard in the right RCA output connector just to here the difference..

And yes the difference was pretty big in the sound.. The right speaker sounded like a door carpet was put on the speaker.. In the same time the left speaker sparkled like never before!

So i can´t agree with that a standard RCA plug vs Nordost Valhalla RCA sound similarly in quality speaking..

I would say more expensive cables colors the sound more like a sound filter.. Thats why i asked if Higher grade Powerlink cables existed, because i want to put in a little more warmth in the sound...

Have done so - The Naim CD555 is stunning - but at that price, it would be wasted on me. Cables just don't do it for me but I am willing to accept that I am just not sensitive enough! Just not completely convinced that many people are!

Seriously, if you can distinguish power cables in an A/B/X double blind trial, you could claim $1,000,000 from James Randi!

Another cable debate indeed... I think we could easily found a new religion, call it cable-otology and start arguing what does and what doesn't exist (mostly based on word-of-mouth or gut-feel I may add :o) No-one is debating the fact most high-end cables are overpriced but so are B&Os Audis and designer clothes. I promised I won't get involved with this debate so I won't :o) Please, have a sound specialist (from a super-fi store) come to your place, recommend and lend you some high-end equipment, assess it for a couple of weeks and then hand it back. If you can still not see or hear the difference that it made than I think the issue is not so much in the science behind it but rather in the sensitivity of your eyes and years (perhaps they lack the experience and / or training :o). Go try it I say!
